Soon-to-be Dad here

And I'm just wondering who frequents this forum.

I'm 36, white, over-educated, under-employed, trying to live 'greener', and very excited about parenthood-- my wife is due at the very end of September.

I'm a bit nervous about parenthood, too, of course, especially the cloth diapering angle, which we're planning to do (and I'm in charge of the laundry side of things). But mostly excited.

What other types of dads are out there?

I saw your post and I wasn't going to say anything (given that this is the dads forum); but since you've gotten no responses since 10am, I thought I'd say hello.

Many times I see more moms than dads responding in the "dads" forum. We have a handful of regular members who are male, and I'm starting to see more males being active in other threads. Please don't be discouraged if you get mostly moms responding; and please don't feel limited to the dads forum. There's so much information and you'll learn so much here. Since you're cloth diapering (and especially since you're in charge of the laundry), a great place for you to start is the Diapering forum. Then perhaps venture over to the forum that changed my life, the Case Against Circumcision forum. There's tons to explore, and I wouldn't be surprised if you turn into an MDC addict like the rest of us!

Anyways, welcome to MDC and congratulations on expecting your first!

BluRazberri is right...we have a handful of dads but more are joining all the time.

Don't worry, my DH can do cloth diapers so I'm sure you can too...he even starts them in the washer most of the time.

Like Blu says though, definitely check out he cloth diaper forum for info on how to's if you aren't sure, it will save you a bunch of time and energy.

Thanks for the welcome! I have looked at the CD forum and know I will get lots of good info from it.

We have already decided that, if our child is a boy, he will definitely NOT be circumcised (unlike his dad). But I have read some of the stuff in that forum too.

Good for you two! It would be awesome if you could zip over to the CAC forum and share the story of how you came to that decision (since you ARE circ'd) so that others can relate. One of the most common arguments TO circumcise is to make the boy "look like daddy" and yours could be a valuable story to many people!

Thanks. I'd be happy to share, but honestly, it wasn't much of a decision-making process for us. There didn't seem to be any good reasons TO do it, so it was easy for us to conclude that we wouldn't. (and of course, if we have a son, he can certainly decide to do it when he's older, if he were to conclude that there were good reasons to do so!)

Ah yes, but don't you see? That is the PERFECT reason not to.
