Other peoples opinions of me--and my children--are none of my--and none of their (my kids)--business or my problem, frankly. My son does know that people are judging him based on his appearance, and he thinks it's b.s., honestly, and has said as much to me.

That's not to say that he doesn't understand the necessity of getting along with community and the world around us, etc., but my kid is a good kid, and if someone wants to be superficial enough (in the real world) to judge him based on his choice of hair-do as a teenager, then they have far bigger problems than I do.

Marine Wife--I love your son's hair, too! His hair looks like it's naturally curly...my son's hair is naturally curly, too...we have to straighten it with a flat-iron before we can spike it!

Awesome hairdos!

I'm a little bit jealous because my hair is too curly to ever wear in a mohawk. The closest I could manage would be sort of a reversed "Bozo the Clown".

Yes, it is naturally curly. Last winter he had ringlets that hung below his shoulders. He has said once it gets longer he's going to have to straighten it. He likes the liberty spikes, too.

ITA that other people's opinions about appearances are not my or my children's concern.

What a cutie!!

My son wanted a mohawk a couple of years ago in the 5th grade. He didn't spike it up, only left it lying over to the side. His teacher told me later that he started a fad & a lot of boys were doing the same, lol!

Your boys are both very handsome! i love their hair!!

i would definatley not mind if one of my kids/teens did that with their hair, its all about their individuality!! I think its great !
