linea negra and working out

I actually like mine - not that I want mine to go away just yet but just wondering when it will go away...

Also, when it is the recommended time to start doing some sort of exercise? like stationary bike or elliptical machine? what about running? one, 2 months?

I had always heard 6 weeks (8 for c-section) - but I think a lot of it just depends on how you are feeling. I didn't pay much attention to that last time, because I was not at all into exercise when dd was born. This time, I am chomping at the bit!

oh Jesus that's a lot! I am so ready (mentally) to start working out but obviously my body isn't, boohoo! I wasn't into working out so soon with my other kids either but work is calling and I want to start working out soon to melt some lbs away.

This is the first pg where I got a linea negra mark, so I am wondering about this too. Mine isn't very dark, so I think it will disappear soon.

I don't have a good scale at home (it's notoriously off) and I've been wondering how much weight I dropped after birth. With my boys, I think I lost 15 lbs the first week after birth (baby, placenta, fluids) and I only gained 20-22 with them. I gained the same amt this time, but started off higher.

There's no way I feel up to exercise yet, it still hurts to walk much. Hopefully next week I will feel up to walking DS1 to and from school 2x a day (it's only 4 blocks.)

I had a nice linea negar last pg, but this time nothing! My MWs apprentice said that in chinese medicine they believe that the linea negra is a sign of kidney deficiency...interesting.

As far as working out, with my last pg I was chomping at the bit on this one and the MWs said to go ahead and start working out when I felt up to it. Well, as 3 weeks I thought I was ready and I ended up with a sprained ankle and wrist because of a fall. Take your time, I think the relaxin hangs around for a bit. This time I am going to wait the 6 weeks, it was no fun limping around.

it depends upon the individual and what you want.

for example, you can begin certain abdominal exercises (gentle) and walking the day after birth.

beyond this, it is recommended that one wait until after the post partum bleeding stops to begin more vigorous/rigorous exercise--which will vary from woman to woman.

and of course, with a c-section, you have the issues of recovery from abdominal surgery, which may mean even more time "off" before beginning a workout routine.

When I go in for my one month check-up, I'm going to ask my doctor if I can at least go walking. I figure by the time I hit 8 weeks, 4 weeks later, I'll get the greenlight to begin incorporating weights.

I gained about 17-18 pounds and I have lost more than 11 so far, if not more.

Kidney disease? oh Jesus! My linea negra is very dark!!! Well I am a latina so I wonder if that has to do with that...

Today I did a lot of walking running errands but ouchy I definitely need to wait... I did some running until I was 3 months preggo so I wonder if I can start sooner than 6 wks pp, but I'll ask my mw next wk.

You know I have no idea how much a weighed before giving birth. I told myself to stop looking at the scale on every prenatal appt. because I really wanted to enjoy my last pregnancy... I'll ask my mw.
