Help!

We have been trying to eat TF style.. and I have really loved it. Feels good. I am breastfeeding my 18 month old and we discovered from the allergist that he is allergic to to milk, egg, almond, sesame and coconut. I have been relying on ghee and coconut oil for good fats for all of us. What can I use now? What are good substitutes?

He has had some mild excema that has not gone away.... now we at least know why.

I;m sorry to hear about the allergies but at least you know now and work on healing the gut.

Avocados have good fats and oils.

I'm sure someone else will be able to help more

Oh no! that is all the good stuff

Did the allergist say no more clarified butter? I ask because my dd can't have any dairy except butter. And is it the whole egg? I'm assuming so because you didn't specify, but if he can have yolk that would be really nice and you could make tf mayo.

You can use cod liver oil as a supplement, and flax oil in smoothies and dressings.

bacon fat, lard, suet etc.:

We have those same allergies plus lots more. You can even make popcorn with the animal fat, it's great! Only use it from good animals though, of course.

We have some of the same sensitivities, and some different, but a lot of sensitivities.

Yes, avocadoes are good, and animal fats, too. We also use some macadamia nut oil, some avocado oil, some olive oil, some palm shortening (don't know if that's too closely related to coconut? Maybe someone else will know). And ghee might be OK still. It is for some people, and isn't for others. It's worth a try anyway.

Were you told whether gluten was a problem or not? It can cause leaky gut that can lead to many other sensitivities. Sometimes removing it and healing the gut will get rid of the other sensitivities. Ds has been GF for two yrs. now, and is finally getting some of his other foods back. A lot of other people have that happen a lot sooner, though. Just a thought.

Maybe for oil you could try palm oil. Tropical Traditions sells it. Here's a link: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/red_palm_oil.htm.

I have some of that, and it has a pretty strong taste. It's certainly worth trying though. I mostly use their palm shortening (just refined palm oil), because it is more solid, which is handy sometimes, and because it has a neutral flavor. Both would be good, though.
