How can I tell if bloody show is from vaginal exam?

Hi there,

How do I know if my slightly bloody mucous/discharge is a result of the internal exam I had today, or if it's the real thing? Anyone know if there's a difference?

All I know is that my bloody show after an exam was brownish.....other than that I dont know.

I had spotting from an exam that was brown.

When I had bloody show it was bright red.
