Child care providers-do you charge weekly or monthly rates?

Just wondering how most of you charge for the children you take care of. I will hopefully just be taking care of one little one and will not be licensed, not sure if that makes a difference. I think I'd prefer weekly since obviously the number of full weeks in a month varies. Are there advantages or disadvantages to either?

Also, can I claim certain tax deductions if I am not licensed? Is there a good website with this kind of information?

for part time and drop of kids I charged by the hour. for full time (anything between 30-50 hours) I charged weekly.

There are benefits to both, IMO.

If you go weekly, you get paid once a week, which is nice. But it can be a pain for your families to remember to pay every week.

If you go monthly, then you'd only get paid once a month, so you'd have to be good at budgeting. But for your clients, it's easier to only pay once, instead of making 4-5 weekly payments.

It is standard in my area for childcare fees to be paid monthly.

I have different rates for different clients, depending on their schedule and number of hours.
