do any of you have experience with speech therapy and know a way to help a child pronounce the "K" sound?

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This is the prettiest carrier, and fit my shoulders and figure (at 5'6") much better than the Ergo. I got it when my daughter was about nine months, two years ago - it doesn't appear to have...

This potty is great - excellent value & performance! (plus it's cute!) My 9 month old DS took to it right away. He is a big boy (30 in. tall - feet not quite on floor - & 27 lbs.) and this is...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Special ed teacher here -- Can I ask a few questions that would help me better answer:
Is this the only sound he/she's missing? Is G also missing?
What are they substituting (I'm going to guess T, and D for G?) or are they just omitting it?
Do you have trouble understanding him/her? Do other people?
Do you think he can hear the difference between the K and whatever he's substituting for -- you can try this by asking some silly questions -- start with substituting sounds you know he know. "Oh, I see a mow" pointing at a picture of a cow and see if he reacts. Mix it up, some right and some wrong (is this a free -- pointing at a tree?) Then ask some where you're subbing the sound he subs -- Is this a Tupcake?

I worked with a special ed teacher who told the kids where to put their tongues to make the sounds, she was really aware of where her tongue went when she made sounds and she was able to describe and model this. She was very patient about it and did it in a very kind way with lots of positive feedback.

We've been making a game of it, looking in the mirror at our mouths as we make the sounds. My ds has trouble with K, L and sometimes R. I've noticed some improvement since the game thing started.
BTW, the sessions are short and usually end with us making funny faces and acting silly. I think that if we keep it short and fun it will be a positive experience rather than a chore.
Good luck to you.
