Harsch crocks?

Does anyone use these? I'm thinking of getting one (or 2). Are they worth the money, assuming you ferment a lot of foods? Are they as heavy as Amazon says?!? 58 lbs.?? Is it very different fermenting in these crocks than in jars?

Please share your experience!

Thanks!

I have one... i use it to make sauerkraut..... I can't say that i can compare it to not having one because i never tried making sauerkraut without it! It works great... it comes out good every time. There is a groove around the lid where you fill with water to act as a one way valve... what is kind of cool is that when it firsts starts for the week it bubbles every so often like its alive or something. You just have to be careful and make sure to keep it filled with water because it will evaporate in a short time

Thank you! Good remindre about keeping water in the groove. We live in a very dry area, so I'll need to be sure to remember to keep that filled.

Anyone else with experience??
