Uniform.. backpacks? Update #63 - Page 4

I can support schools and I support the idea of uniforms (sort of) but making my child wear a back-pack that they provide, nope. That would bug me. Aren't children allowed to be individuals anymore?

I'd hate that. My boys like picking their own bag out.

As for their name on them, my Kindy son has his name on his bag (he LOVES it). It's not an issue because he's only 5, he's never going to be anywhere alone with it for a stranger to lure him away.

He gets walked to school and dropped off with the teacher, then at the end of the day he's delivered to his father and walked home.

Update: The bags are not mandatory per the principle. She said the boys can simple say, "No thank you" when they are handing them out. Well, I may tell them to do that but I doubt they'll remember. And it sounds like the boys won't get the supplies provided if they don't get the bags (they are provided at least half of the supplies by Wells Fargo as well).

I was wondering that myself, you have got to let us know when you find out. I was annoyed enough about having to choose between Thomas and Dora the explorer when buying DS a back pack, but I couldn't find a nuetral one that would fit a person who only weighs 25 lbs. (Actually I did find one but about a week after I bought DS the Thomas one.) At least DS likes Thomas, he has no interest in Wells Fargo.
