Night time cloth diapers for kids???

I was looking online to see if there was any alternative to buying yet another box of disposable size 7 Pampers for my 5-year-old. Some nights he wakes up dry and we can get him to the bathroom in time. But at least three nights a week he wakes up wet, and oftentimes soaks through the disposable diaper onto the bed. Do they make cloth diapers in really big sizes?? (He's 47 lbs.) and does anybody know if they actually work?

My 5.5 yr. old is the same size (well, he was 45 lbs. in January, so around there) and we use an XL (45+ lbs) Bummis Super Whisper Wrap cover, with a premium prefold and a microfiber towel (with the MF on the inside wrapped around by the prefold). It's a cheap, easy system-- the same we used when he was a newborn, only with the MF towel added, and way bigger.
For my smaller bedwetter, I use Happy Heinys, but my oldest needs more absorbency than you can stuff in a pocket (without breaking my hand). If your son doesn't wet a ton, an XL Happy Heiny will fit fine, with 2 MF towels for stuffing.
You can buy microfiber towels in the automotive section of Target, Walmart, Sam's Club, etc. I see XL covers here (XL only comes in white): http://www.cottonbabies.com/product_...products_id=92
and prefolds are widely available-- either premium or toddler size will work. We have old holey premiums left from my oldest's infancy so that's what we use.
My son seems to be about done bedwetting-- woohoo! But if not, the stuff we have will last him another 10 lbs. at least.

re diaper for older children

Hi, I just recently posted the same question on the diapering board. I have a 7 year old daughter that still wets the bed but also has frequent daytime accidents. I am looking for an alternative to disposable because the pull ups just dont work and I am not about to spend anymore money on them if they dont even work. I am sure anyone can relate to that! lol The main issue I have about my daughters accidents is the fact that she could care less that she does that and will at times just continue playing as if nothing happened! I have to watch her like a hawk so she doesnt get on any of the furniture especially the couch which I have had to wash too many times to count. Is there anyone else dealing with laziness with an older child her age? I am getting a bit desperate here to find some sort of solution, so I dont have to constantly find wet outfit after outfit in her room, not to mention the smell. Thank you in advance for everyones help! Have a wonderful day!

You can also try a wool or fleece cover for added insurance.

re older child

Hi thank you for your suggestion. I am a cloth diaper newbie as I have never purchased one in my life. I dont know all the terminology or lingo so you will have to help me out sorry. What is the difference between the two? Do they make them for older kids and what do I use under them? Sorry I have tons of quesitons regarding anything that has to do with cloth. As I mentioned in my post you can contact me on my yahoo messenger if its easier for you to chat live. My screen name is mommy_to_my_rugrats. I hope to hear back from you soon. Have a wonderful day!

I am going online to shop right now. Thank you for the information hottmama!!!!

For mom_to_my_rugrats:
My 5.5 year old will sometimes wet his pants during the day. It's when he's really involved in something and doesn't want to get up to go to the bathroom. I find it's mostly when he's playing computer games... I'll go in later and find his clothes on the floor, and a wet spot on the chair. Lately, he's been much better because I remind him before he gets on the computer that he has to use the bathroom, but I can definitely relate! Hopefully it's a stage they grow out of!

This is what we have been stuck using for ds-we cd'd but now at 5.5 I have been unable to find anything else that could contain this giant nighttime pee!
We have never had a leak with these so far...

We did try the new Pampers bedtime undie (Underjams), and those leaked for us too.
