Help me decide when to have my first appt.

I found a midwife : and she is great! She is on vacation for the entire month of September, which is no big deal, but I need to decide when to see her.
I can get an appt next week, but we've already got a TON of things to do and it's going to be a real challenge to see her. I can see her on Tues or Thursday. Tuesday my youngest has a neurology appt and I have a chiropractor appt. Thursday my oldest has an eye exam. I'd likely have to bring all three kids with me as well, so the appt may end up feeling rushed.

My other choice is to wait until the second week in October, I'll already be in the second trimester. That seems really late. On the plus side I can have an otherwise clear schedule and I'd only be bringing my youngest along.

I do have a few concerns to discuss with the midwife, but I can do that over the phone before she's off.

What would you choose?

Since she's new to you, I would try to squeeze an appointment in before she leaves. Even though it won't be the best quality with all of your kids there, you'll get the chance to meet her in person in case you decide for any reason to go with a different midwife you'll be making the change earlier in your pregnancy.

But that's just me...do whatever works best for you and your family

With ds1, the dr'd office waited until I was 10 weeks along and with ds2, I waited until I was 12 weeks along before scheduling an appt. This time, I will probably schedule fairly soon since I've been spotting since o. It's not atypical for me, but I just want to make sure all is well. I would be tempted to wait until the 2nd tri if I didn't have any problems.
