What are you crafting for Christmas? - Page 2

I am making and or swapping for many things on this list

http://www.mothering.com/discussions...threadid=92232

but mainly making dresses, napkins, and bath products and trading them for other things (as my family gets a ton of those items from me every year as is! LOL)

I am trading for things like silk cape, eye pillows, bendy snake, etc.

This is for next year -- they will take a lot of research. I'm going to make sister/sil/ils/rents/DS family trees.

For the babies in my family I am embroidering some burp clothes and onsies I have (I got them on sale *very cheap* a few months back). For the older kids I am making some embroidered turtlenecks. For the adults I will make a combination of embroidered hand towels, canvas bags, aprons and hand made soap. All of the embroidery I am doing is with the specific child/adult in mind. I want them to be very personalized (their names and some cute picture of something they like). I am also working on a quilt for my grandmother. My grandfather passed away two years ago and Christmas was his favorite holiday. We used to joke that he was the biggest kid of all. Anyways, since he passed, Christmas is hard for my grandmother. So I am making a hand sewn quilt out of squares that I embroidered. Each square represents some happy moment of their 46 years together.

Homemade food gifts are always at the top of our holiday "to-do" list.

This summer we worked ahead and made 32 pints of salsa, 18 jars of blackberry jam, and 18 jars of pear butter for extended family and to be included in gift baskets. (not to mention the 35 quarts of roma tomatoes, 25 quarts of green beans and 10 pints of pickles for our use!)

We also make hard candy (so easy, but people always seem so impressed), spice and baking mixes to include in the gift baskets with wine, cocktail napkins, kitchen/bar towels and a few other goodies.

I am attempting to make 2 "taggie" type blankets for the new babies in our family. We received one as a gift and I love the idea!

Lastly, my girlfriends will be "restocked" with homemade bath goodies--whipped shea butter, bath salts, shea lip balm, CP soap and body powder.

Actually, one of my girlfriends is coming over this weekend to help with some of the body product crafting, as I am 2 weeks from my due date! I love my friends!!!
