Has anyone/will anyone use cohosh?

I am thinking about it - have done some reading & wondered if anyone has had success? I was going to buy a blue/black mix.

Thanks!

I would only use the homeopathic versions unless my MW or careprovider was overseeing my use of the herbs. To do that homeopathic, I've read you buy the 30c and take 3-4 pellets every hour, alternating which remedy is taken.

Be very, very careful with the cohoshes. They are VERY strong and will work fast. You should really only use under the direction of a midwife or someone knowledgable with herbs.

My MW gave me a TINY bit of black cohosh towards the end of my labor to bring my contractions to a better regularity. I took the one swallow she gave me(which she mixed with water) and no lie, 5 minutes later Ethan was born! It is VERY intense stuff, as close to pitocin as you can get really. It intensified my labor very quickly, and obviously since E was born literally minutes later!

So proceed with caution and since you are only one day over your "due date" I wouldn't do anything until it is a necessity..I truly think that all of my "move things along" remedies made my labor more intense and painful, so I would avoid interventions if you can!

Baby will come when he or she is ready(but I SOOO understand your impatience! )

I'm taking Dr Christopher's Prenatal Formula (herbsfirst.com) under mw directions, of course. It has Squawvine Herb, Blessed Thistle Herb, Black Cohosh Root, Pennyroyal Herb, False Unicorn Root, Red Raspberry Leaf, and Lobelia Herb in an all vegetarian capsule.

As pps have mentioned, I'm a bit worried about the strength of the cohoshes and I don't want to mess with my little guy's timetable unless my mw and I feel moving things along is warranted. If you and I are still here in a couple of weeks and our care providers are on board, I'll try the cohoshes with you and we can see what happens

I'm taking that too.
