Help!! Religious exemption for Alabama Private schools

Does anyone know for sure the AL. Law reguarding private schools? I am newly enrolling my child and his first day is tommorrow but I was told he had to have a blue card. We have a religious exemption but I was told they don't honor it ;0( He is current so can provide it but didn't want to if the law states he can just use the religious exemption. I find it hard to believe public schools have to honor it but private schools do not. Is this fishy sounding to others or does anyone know the law regarding private schools?

In most states if they dont recieve public money they can do what ever they want.

In most states, if a private school receives any public funding (most do) it could be as little as a milk stipend or a small materials grant) they must accept all state exemptions. You can ask to see the financial reports to look for this info. It's public record and they have to provide it if you ask.

Thanks so much fyrestorm we will see how it goes when I just hand the office the card in the morning. I was told by the director already that they didn't accept them but I will try taking it to the office and see how all goes and I will now at least know to ask for their financial reports
thanks so much again.

Well the religious exemption won't work the lady in the office told me she would have to speak to the director of the school whom had already told me no so I told her that I had already spoke with her but I wanted them to have something for today ;0) and I gave her the card anyway! I tried. I think I am going to call today and ask for their finacial reports because I asked the director this morning if they were funded by the state and she nope `none, so I guess she wouldn't mind me looking at the financial reports then I did speak with her regarding our decision and told her it isn't an issue this year but will be for the next year as he will be eleven and will need something I'm not sure what it is yet. I asked her is she would let me share some info with her on a study that was done by the American academy of Pediatrics themselves comparing unvaccinated and vaccinated children. She is open to disscussion but says right now she does not want to put kids lives in her hands, since she gets the whooping cough every year. She does not want to be responsible for another kids life. She believe kids could have died last year if they were not vaccinate : I told her as mothers we should have the right to decide for our children and that it being in the news media with such controversy we should all learn more together. I told her we had a whole year so maybe ;0) we will convince her to let him stay without his shots next year! woho!! I just found out he doesn't have to have any shots at age 11 it isn't until 2013 so thank goodness we have plenty of time! Just not for my 5 yr. old we kept him out ;0( We couldn't really afford it but he wasn't current on shots though so would have been an issue.

Statewide

Alabama schools boast a total statewide student population of 763,754 attending 1,526 schools in 133 public school districts and 353 private schools. Public school revenue and expenditures vary by school district but Alabama public schools spend an average of $6,090 per student each year. That ranks Alabama schools number 41 nationally.

layman terms please. So what's that mean we have poor public education for our kids because I am very aware of that.
