Just wanted to point out that if anyone Is interested in a holistic moms group in walnut creek you should post on the new thread about it!

Mirako' welcome to the group. Um not sure about crunchy communities in contra costa but there are a few of us in the Brentwood & concord areas. There are some great homeschooler groups here as well! Concord is decent with public transit & there is a Bart train to the city. Berkeley is probably crunchier & closer if you haven't considered it.

Sorry I couldn't help more!

job post from craigslist

I thought I would post this since there was such a big interest with the nursery position. I saw this on craigslist. What I did when I was looking for work was apply and in my cover letter I made sure to add that I was, "looking for a job where I could work with my children beside me." or something to that effect. I was always up front about what I was looking for. The worst they can say is no, right. So I thought I would share this in case people were still looking for work.

I showed them the site where it was listed & everything. Then I called & left a message @ pittsburg chamber of commerce. *sigh* sorry everyone. It was way fun last year!

Holiday events:

Dec 5-Jan 4th: Oakland Zoo lights: Family, friends, and ZooLights are a great way to turn on your holiday spirit! This year’s much anticipated
event will feature larger-than-life light displays to mirror the Oakland Zoo’s full-time animal residents. Holiday music will fill the air as guests
mingle among hundreds of thousands of energy-efficient LED lights. “PG&E is proud to collaborate with the Oakland Zoo to make its annual
ZooLights tradition energy efficient,” said Greg Hoaglin, PG&E’s executive manager of East Bay Service and Sales. "Energy-efficient lights are
a great way for our communities to go green this holiday season. We are thrilled that thousands of children and adults will have the opportunity
to learn about energy efficiency while enjoying the blend of beauty, learning, and excitement that define the Oakland Zoo. PG&E truly values its
relationship with the Oakland Zoo and looks forward to working closely with them in the future."
So, grab a cup of hot cocoa and feast your eyes on more than 120 lighted animal structures. Don’t miss the ZooLights meadow show with music
provided by Movin’ 99.7 and orchestrated by Impact Lighting. It’s an animal escapade that will unplug any “bah humbug” attitude!
Embark on a more relaxed ZooLights experience and board the Snowball Express, a miniature C.P. Huntington steam engine train. The Zoo’s
famous train ride is popular among the young and the young at heart! Let your holiday spirit take you away as you see breathtaking views of
the Bay Area while winding around the Oakland Zoo after dark. End the evening in the Oakland Zoo’s Rides Area where children will especially
enjoy a fantasyland of giant toy soldiers, with over-sized candy canes, lollipops, and gingerbread cookies. The holiday season may even bring
out the kid in you…take a twirl on the carousel! Oakland Zoo’s ZooLights is the largest LED light festival in Northern California!
The 2008 Zoolights event is sponsored by: PG&E, CW, CBS 5, Movin 99.7, the Oakland Tribune, and PETCO.
PG&E is a national leader in helping its customers use energy efficiency as a cost-effective way of reducing their energy bills and reducing
greenhouse gas emissions. Over the past three decades, PG&E’s 85 distinct residential and commercial energy efficiency programs have helped
customers save more than 118 million megawatt-hours of electricity and 10.7 billion therms of natural gas. These joint efforts helped our customers
save more than $22 billion in energy costs, while preventing more than 135 million tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
Tis the Season for ZooLights! ZooLights is open to the public December 5, 2008 – January 4, 2009
Exception: ZooLights will be closed December 24 & 25, so staff members may spend the holidays with family members.
ZooLights Hours:
Friday - Sunday: 5:30pm – 9:30pm
Monday – Thursday: 5:30pm – 9:00pm
*Please note that Oakland Zoo animal residents will be in their nighthouses.
