Long term use of domperidone

Hello I would like to hear from women who were on domperidone long term.

Were you able to wean off it? If yes then how did you do it, and did it affect your supply?

Did anyone take it for the entire time they breastfed?

My son is 10 months and every time I try and drop a tablet my breasts go all soft and I get worried. I want to come off it but I also want to keep breastfeeding. I need some advice, I am not sure if its healthy for me to be on it so long. I am taking 8 tablets a day.

I took Dom for 4 months to induce lactation for my adopted DD. after i had a full supply for a while, i took less and less for about 2 weeks. i have been off it completely for 6 months now and my supply is fine.

I am new to this and dont know how to post a question. I too want to take dom, i am a bfar mom of a 9 week old. i ordered dom from inhouse, but they won't ship to hawaii. any ideas? also could someone tell me how to post my own question so i wont have to just reply to others??

Try www.1Drug.com. They might ship to Hawaii. You might try just googling til you find somewhere. That's how I found that place.

From what I understand, it depends on why you're taking the dom whether you can wean off it or not. If you have IGT, weaning off may not work for you.

I have IGT and stopped taking it and haven't noticed a difference, but then, I never noticed much difference when I was taking it. I am thinking of starting back up again. Someone somewhere said that sometimes going off it and back on can help increase supply.

Hi there, I took it for a full year and only stopped when my DS self weaned. I am in the UK and my Dr viewed it as a very safe drug and was very happy for me to stay on it as long as I wanted to.

i started taking it at 3 weeks pp. stopped for a lil over a month at 10-11 months due to financial issues and tried shatavari, it did NOT work for me.
i was taking 16 pills a day. now i am down to 9 a day just fine. when i stopped i started bleeding, just a day or two of spotting, and it never returned. dd is now 13mo old. i will never have a full supply no matter how much dpd i take, i will never have HALF a supply. so we suppliment at the breast using the Lact-aid system.
