I think it's about time to start a birth announcement thread seeing as there are more and more of us going into labor early and many of us are at full term now. Mods, can we get this stickied please?

Things you might want to include in your announcement:

Date and time of birth
Sex
Name
Weight/Length
How long labor was
Any other details you want to add!

On the August group they have you link to the birth story..this makes it a bit easier to go through the "stats", and mums can put their birth story on the regular threads or at their blogs. I think they may have had home/hospital too.

Yep, whichever way people want to do it. I just wasn't sure if everyone would write out a birth story but might want to just announce the stats.

I'll probably do both -- post here to announce stats quickly and then post a link to a birth story when I've got more time.

How long labor was 19 hours from when my water broke - 2 hours of pushing - additional hour to get the placenta out - additional hour for stitches


Labor was long and difficult, but my little girl is completely worth it! She had a bit of a problem breathing in the beginning, but after an hour or so of oxygen, she was great! :

Weight/Length: 7 pounds, 8 ounces, 21.5 inches
How long labor was: 41 hours from when my water broke... but things didn't get rolling until the pit got started. Active labor was 16 hours. I pushed for about an hour. I made it 11 hours on the pit before I finally got an epidural, and I am very proud of myself for that! I also lasted 3 hours longer than the midwife and doula thought I would (but thank heavens they never told me that!)

How long labor was: Water broke with a Pop! @ 8:30 am. Labour was slow until I hit 4cm. Then I went to 10 in 1/2 hour! Pushed for another 1/2 hour and he arrived:

How long labor was I had been contracting for a good two days, just mild ones. They started to regulate through the night on the 27th. Went to the hospital around 7am, because i knew he was still transverse. They did a quick u/s which confirmed. I labored until 3-3:30ish, hoping he'd turn, but no such luck. By that time I was 4-5cm, and my water was bulging. Another u/s showed he hadnt budged one bit, so we went ahead with the repeat c-section. Not the birth I had hoped for, but we gave it our best shot

How long labor was: Long very, very mild latent phase, with cramping (couldn't really even call them contractions) coming every 20-30 minutes from 8AM until evening. Easy regular contractions until 10:30PM when my water popped! Midwife arrived shortly thereafter to find I was 8cm...moved to birth pool and pushed for 45 minutes. Not a water birth..had to stand up out of the tub as baby had shoulder dystocia and had a few scary moments, but all was well! Will give detailed labor story and pictures soon!!!
