Anyone use Skype as a home phone? What do you use for phone?

I have SkypeIn account to use as a home phone and use Skype to call out. However, I need a cordless/wireless phone so I can make/receive phone calls via Skype.
I went to Skype website, but there are so many phones I don't know which one is good for me without spending too much money.
I also hear that I can buy some type of adapter/converter to usb port so I can use regular phone for Skype. How is this work? I've missed so many Skype In calls because I couldn't hear the phone ring or my monitor was turned off (speaker is built in to the monitor) and when I make a call, I need to sit in front of the computer. I simply want to make calls in the kitchen or in bedrooms or etc... and able to answer the phone without coming to the computer.

I use Skype for work and I'm also trying to find a solution for this. Dh and I were thinking that maybe using a bluetooth headset would work better for me because my computer has bluetooth.

I had no idea you could get a phone for Skype. I only have skype out, I used to have skype in, but I never heard a call.

I don't have any experience with Skype, but have been using another VoIp for about 6 weeks. This program also requires you to click "accept" on the computer before answering and I agree it's a drawback. A few times I've forgotten and just picked the phone up (also cordless) I got a strange ringing sound for 20 seconds or so and then patched through to the call. Maybe it would be the same with Skype? I can dial out from anywhere in the house or yard.

Magic Jack is the one we have. With shipping it only costs $50 for an entire year of service and long distance is free so it's worth the inconvenience IMO.

Here's the website if you want to compare: http://www.magicjack.com/8/index.asp

What I usually do with Skype ( I just remembered to post this) is have the calls forward to my home phone or cell phone and use the free local number they gave me with my subscription to call out.

My husband used skype for awhile but now we have voip. It's on a set of portable phones so we have it all over the house.

The only downside is we don't have reliable internet service & so often have no phone due to the internet. But that really isn't the voip that is causing us issues.

Have you heard of or tried Vonage? We are very happy with it. We bought the Vonage adapter at Best Buy-it is $80 with a $70 in store rebate if you activate it in the store-took about 10 minutes. Then you connect it to your router and a regular cordless phone. You choose what area code you want to have, and it works great for us because we can take the thing anywhere in the world, but it thinks we are in the US. So here in Costa Rica I have a US phone number that my friends and family can easily call, sound is crystal clear, & cost is $25 a month for unlimited calls to US and Canada. Best deal I have ever had! We too were frustrated with Skype, and only use it for the web cam feature with family.
