Any other news you want to share:
Water broke at 2:28 am, contractions immediately started hard and fast (2 minutes apart). Back labor that hurt like buggery! Was at the hospital within the hour, with an epidural onboard an hour later (I don't tolerate pain well, and had planned an early epidural all along). Baby had some decels during labor, so labored on side. I went from 4 cm when I arrived to 7 an hour later. So, essentially, I did most of transition in the time in took them to arrange the epidural.
At 5:30 I was 8/9 cm...and at 6:30 was asked to give a couple pushes to se if we could get her rotated. We successfully got her rotated in time for my OB to arrive, three pushes later (no tears) Lilith was born into the world with hardly a peep. She calmly looked into my eyes as they rubbed her down and we waited to clamp the cord and then finally gave them an obligatory peep of a cry. She was 7lb 8 oz, 19 inches (smaller than my first girl), with strong apagar scores. She is perfectly healthy and absolutely gorgeous if I do say so myself!
Due to her early arrival (I never expected her to not make it to October!), my three year old was unexpectedly with us and she LOVED seeing her sister born. One of my favorite memories during my three pushes was seeing her looking up at me between my legs and cheering me on with "great pushing mom! I can see my sister!" So, in the end, we are so glad she got to be there, it was a special moment for the entire family.
How did I ever get so lucky?
