Mother of septuplets can't wait to breastfeed

I'm so sad that she hasn't been able to hold them (don't get me started...), but I think it's awesome that she can't wait to breastfeed!

ETA: I really hope she's hand expressing or pumping.

I know-- I've been praying for that mama ever since I read her story on cnn.com yesterday. It said that they had the babies at 4 different hospitals (!) because they didn't have enough preemie ICU equipment at any one hospital for all of them. The CNN article didn't mention breastfeeding, but it's so great to know that she wants to. I think she has 3 older daughters, so she's probably fairly experienced.

to that mama! I know in my heart I would never have it in me to bf septuplets. I would want to, I would feel guilty for not, but I swear I can barely handle 1 baby let alone that many!

Wow!
I hope she gets to nurse at least some of them. What an amazing mama for even thinking of that right now.

Holy CRAP! This is like that "how many people can we fit into an Austin Mini??" kind of thing!!!! I can't for the life of me figure out how ALL THOSE TINY HUMANS fit into one woman!! Seriously; check out the SIZE of them! I can't believe how big they are!

I also can't believe she hasn't seen her babies yet....not ANY of them!! That has to be a strange feeling!

Seriously - that is like 35 pounds of baby (assuming 5 ish pounds each). They do look big, and they made it to 8 months which is amazing considering that there are 7 of them.

I think they said the babies were 2.5-4.5 pounds so more like 25 or so pounds of baby, but still! I can't imagine going from 3-10 kids so suddenly. I suspect the older girls are going to have to do a lot of helping!

I also hope she gets to see her babies and feed them soon!

I saw an article about this. The woman (27) had three daughters already, so underwent IVF in order to have a son. Their family has very little money. There are four boys and three girls among the babies. She was hoping to breastfeed at least some of them; I hope that she can manage to give them all breastmilk! At least, she was saying that she wanted to, so it is important to her.
