C.S. Lewis

I wasn't sure whether to post this in media or spirituality but it seemed to fit better here:

Would anyone like to do a study of a C.S. Lewis book with me? There are some free study guides on cslewis.org. I was thinking of The Great Divorce but might like to do one I haven't previously read (like Mere Christianity).

I would!

I've read that book, and it just keeps getting deeper. The Screwtape Letters are incredible too.

How about we do The Great Divorce first and then The Screwtape Letters for anyone who wants to do another?

Eeee! I don't think I can do this, as I already have more books to read than I know what to do with, and I'm about to start working, BUT... I couldn't pass up this thread without saying I *love* C.S. Lewis. And The Great Divorce is awesome. I started to reread it a few months ago, and I really ought to finish it... Mere Christianity is also awesome.

I would love to join for some Great Divorce discussion. I landed the book to a friend and it's been a while since I read it, but rest assured, I will be lurking here and joining if i have something "deep" to say... lol.

OK! Well, here we go then!

Let's aim for reading a chapter a week. They're short and sweet so that should be doable even for busy moms.

Here's a link to the study guide: http://www.cslewis.org/resources/stu...%20Divorce.pdf

I'd recommend making notes on the study guide as you go along. After we've finished the book we can come together for group discussion. Of course, feel free to make comments before then if you feel so compelled.

But most importantly, enjoy! This is a great book. When I read it I have to ask myself the hard questions about my own behavior, and it forces me to grow.

i will have to check and see if the library has that one.
and yes, "Our Father below" is funny.

Have you started reading TGD yet?

I'd love to join. I won't be able to discuss it until next week though.

Hi, I'm in! It's one of my favourite books. Thanks for the study guide. Starting my re-read w/study guide tonight.

Anyone ready to start?

I found it thought-provoking that the main character had no idea where the bus was going to go but was pleased every time someone else left the line and he was able to move forward. Very much like life sometimes.

Yes, how telling that even after death, the people in this town have still retained all of their bad attributes. And the description of the depressing town was so good.
