mastitis

I don't know if I should be concerned or not. My fever, red breast, and golf ball size lump showed up on Fri. Sat night fever gone. YEAH! I still have large hard lump and red spot. I've done all that I know to do. Ton of Vit C and Echinesea. Taking Lecithin. Using cabbage and fresh comfrey leaves. Using comfrey root ice packs after nursing and HOT pads before nursing. Using motherlove breast tea pads. manually massaging.

The only reason why I'm concerned is because I had a BAD experience 3 years ago with daughter. I had engorged breasts for over a month, with fever reaching up to 104. Low grade fever for most of month. Turned into nasty abcess that finally literally drained over 1 c of pus. This was after trying everything thought possible.

Anyways I have a prescription for antibiotics but am hesitating taking it because we are also battling thrush as it is. Any suggestions?

OMG! Don't let it get to an abcess. Are you massaging while holding hot wet towels or diaper on the spot. I suggest using a disposable diaper soaked in HOT water when you massage, pump or nurse. I would resort to antibiotics if you spiked a high fever again and it wasn't letting up. also- hang breasts over a bowl of HOT water and massage using gravity.
