TO be fair I think this was just a mass mailer not aimed at me....
DD is kindergarden and while there has both lunch and a snack time. I provide both. Last thursday (they only go 1/2 day on fridays so no snack that day) I gave her for her snack 1/2 a bannana and a mini pack of teddy grams. Today I notice a notice in her packpack I'd missed before on how the school wanted to stress good nutrution and asking parents to pack healthy lunches and snacks.. Now okay I know teddy grams aren't the BEST but there hardly the worst and I find it irronic because those kids whos parents don't pack snacks get eaither one of those artifical flavored cheese crackers with cheese spread or a mini icecream sandwich. Yea thats healthy...

There are probably kids who come in with cupcakes/cookies, who the note is meant for, but they give it to everybody. When my son started preschool I used to get concerned about the notes sent home before I realized they weren't personal. I sort of wish they WOULD just tell a parent directly when something is not okay, but it seems to be the practice to simply send a "reminder" to everybody, so you end up wondering "well are teddy grahams okay or not?"

Yea it was an obvious mass mailer I just giggled because the SCHOOLS I guess Idea of a healthy snack that they serve is eaither processed cheese and crackers or ice cream bars. To me thats really not much if any better than a parent sending a cupcake. THe school does ask you don't send candy soda or outside fast food type foods but thats about it.

I highly doubt it was aimed at you. There are a LOT worse foods in the world than teddy grahams

WTF?? The SCHOOL offers sugary crap with synthetic dyes in it? No wonder you pack your child's food yourself!

Yea I loved this school minus the food choices. DD is eligiable for the lunch program and can eat for free (she could do breakfast as well) but the menu isn't very impressive so i'd rather send her stuff myself.

Ha -- that is ironic that they seem so blind to their own poor nutrition practices. Yeah, they're setting a great example with their HandiSnacks and ice cream! Is there a way to casually or jokingly bring this up to the teacher?
