Yes, but too me a hurricane is much better to deal with, in terms of predictability and the ability to get away, then floods, earthquakes, fire seasons, snow and ice storms, tornadoes, and other things it seems like I hear about on the news every day happening in other states.
All of these big storms cause problems, even if its just flooding etc. Its the bad ones, the katrinas, the andrews, even charlies, etc that cause major problems. But they don't happen as often as these smaller storms. I suppose it seems silly to some to stay here, but over all, they are not a big deal to deal with, and most of us get through just fine. Tornadoes, fires and landslides scare me much more :P JMO |
FYI, for the mama who mentioned no tornado sirens here: get a weather radio. We used to have one that was basically on all the time in standby, and if the NWS issued a tornado or other severe weather warning, it would turn on with an alarm and the warning.
