1st graders afterschool schedule?

What are your afterschool schedules like?

Just wanting to compare notes and see if this is even reasonable... We are going into our 2nd full week of school and I haven't got the timing to work out yet but here's my 'ideal' or at least I think it is... has only happend the way I planned 1 time, don't know if it's because it's not doable or I just need to give it time to get into the routine....

we have 2 boys, age 6-1st grade, age 4-at home. Daddy works out of town so I'm doing everything 'solo' during the week.

*older son get off bus at 4:00 and we call daddy/play/sit/snack/tv for about half an hour

*4:30-5:30 about an hour on homework (well not all the time doing homework, but going through papers, reading books to both boys, going over flash cards, playing 'school' with younger brother, play a sit down game... basically table time. (I'm up and down preping things for dinner) (I need to set up the computer or something for little brother during the real homework time, it's nice that he gets to watch and learn but is distracting to older son)

*5:30-5:45 a tiny bit of play time while mama frantically tries to get the rest of a decent meal on the table...

*5:45-6:30 eat dinner (no set time on this, when everyone is through they can play.)

*6:30-7:00 play (I clean things up or leave some of it for morning)

*7:00-7:30 bathtime/brush teeth (I get clothes set out for next day)

*7:30-8:00 freetime and call daddy to say goodnight (I can get a quick bath)

*8:00- in bed and storytime till 8:45 if they last that long

*8:45 lights out and lullaby music on cd if still awake.

(9:00-10:00 is mommy time and 10:00 is- *should be* lights out for me, if I need to stay up later, I can but it starts 'hurting' me as the week goes on)

wake up time for kids is anywhere from 6:00 to 6:45, we have to be at the bus at 7:00 (he eats breakfast at school) the earlier I can get up, I can have more "mommy time" if it was 5:00 I'd be getting 8 hrs sleep and the boys at least 9 hrs if they go to sleep at 9:00....

What are your evenings like around the house? Either actual or dreaming!?

(I'm not a stickler to a schedule, I really do have a difficult time trying to stick to them but with school now, I feel like I only have such a little amount of time with my older son each day and I want to make the best of it and not look at the clock and be like... "oh no, it's 11:00 you boys had better get to bed." which happened a bunch last year for K and a couple times this year.)

My first grader just started today but i'm pretty sure it will be close to the same schedule for kindergarten. His school day is longer but he no longer takes the bus so he is gone from home only about an hour more. He gets out at 2 and willk be home really by 2:20
2:20 to 3:15 down time and snack. He has a lot of anxiety and needs time to himself

3:15 to 4:00 homework

4:00 to 5:30 mom usually comes home so that is mom time.

5:30 to 6:30 dinner

6:30 to 7:30 free time

7:30 to 8:00 bath time and quiet time. Ds does not bathe daily because of his anxiety, it's usually every other day

8:00 meds and calm down

8:30 bed time.

Now my ds has autism and there is no way to keep him in bed if he is not tired. It doesn't work. It is variable. He gets tired easily from doing school all day so this is a fairly accurate bed time for him. He gets up around 6am and leaves for school around 7:30. He needs help to get going in the morning and will not eat first thing when he wakes up.

Getting home at 4 and still having homework to do seems pretty late for a 6 year old. My kids' free play usually consists of playing with legos or being on the computer. I think it is important for them to have ample time to do the things that make them happy. Especially if they are creative or educational.

My bed time is anywhere from 9 to midnight and i'm usually up by 5.

My kids are in Grades 5, 2 & 1

Up by 7-7:30 for bkfast, getting dressed & ready. Out the door by 8:15-8:30. School starts at 8:50

School lets out at 3:30, they get home by 3:40.

3:40 - snack. While they're eating I go over any papers/notes they bring home.

playtime till supper which is between 5 & 6 depending on their extracurricular activities which I won't know about until September

Bedtime at 8 for the younger 2. The older one goes to bed but reads till 9(or watches tv till 9)

Homework hasn't been anything regular, once every few months. My youngest is in speech through school but I'm really lax on doing that.

Dd just started 1st grade. Our days vary because of different activities: Mad Science, Gymnastics and Brownie Scouts. Typical schedule:

6:45 wake-up, watch Clifford and have breakfast
7:15 - 7:30 leave for school (dh takes dd... 45 minute drive to school)
8:15 - 3:15 in school
4:00ish get home (had snack in car on the way home)
4:00 - 5:00 play time (unless Mad Science or Brownies... then we get home at 5:30)
5:00 - 6:00 work on homework and/or help me with getting dinner ready
6:00 - 7:00 on Mondays, eat dinner (gymnastics at 7:00) else just playtime
7:00 eat dinner
7:30 - 9:00 watch TV, read (to herself or to us), play, etc.
9:00 in bed & one of us reading to her... she still co-sleeps

Our schedule will look different for the first few weeks of school because that tends to be a huge transition time for us, and i find that dd especially needs a lot of decompression/free time after a day at school. So, my ideal is come home in the afternoon and go outside to play with ds until it's dinnertime (5:30) or so. Then dinner, bath and reading before bed (7:30 is ideal for us, K and 4th gr.). Kids are generally up by about 7:30 in the am. The first bit of school doesn't generally involve homework, so I can be more flexible. Once homework starts that need to be done while I am getting dinner on the table. My kids also have animal chores.

This year we are only doing one afterschool activity per kid, and possibly none during the winter. It's too hard to fit it in and not feel crazy trying to have a calm afterschool life.

My DD has a pretty early bedtime, so that influences all of this a lot...this is the schedule on days when she has no activities.

2:30 - 3:00 Play at School
(School gets out at 2:30, we normally pick her up and play on the playground at her school)
3:00 - 4:00 Snack/Playtime/Pick-Up Sibling
(2 days/week, we have to drive 10 minutes to pick up her preschool brother at his school and will sometimes play there, otherwise we come home and play have a snack)
4:00 - 5:00 Table Time/Homework/Computer
(We haven't started HW yet (2nd week of school), but we'll have 20 minutes of reading every day and also some worksheets (handed out on friday and due back the following friday))
5:00 - 6:30 Dinner Prep/Eat Dinner/More Playtime
6:30 - 7:00 Bath, Bedtime prep
7:00 - 7:15 Stories, Bed

**Activities**
She has Daisy Mtgs roughly twice a month from 2:30 - 4:00
She has soccer practice on Friday nights from 5:00 - 6:00 (games on Sat)
She's starting piano lessons next week which will probably be from 3:00-3:30 on Wednesdays.

Most of the time I love that my kids go to bed so early, but sometimes I wish I had more time with her in the evening and that she didn't melt down if she stays up until 8 every once in a while
