Anyone flown through Heathrow recently?

We're flying from Heathrow to the US this weekend, with our 21 month old son. I've been reading the travel with children and security guidelines and wondering what people's recent experiences have been.

I am a bit concerned about their statements that bringing liquid-consistency foods. In our case, it would be sealed pots of pureed fruit and 200mL boxes of rice milk, both treats for DS that he thinks are awesome. Has anyone actually had to open and taste their baby's snacks/drinks at security? Is there any hope for re-sealing things once they've been opened?

What about empty sippy cups? I know several adults who've had empty Nalgene-type bottled confiscated by LHR security staff. Are they as vigilant with children?

Not flown from LHR with a baby but have done twice from Gatwick (annoying really as we live 20 mins from LHR but an hour+ from LGW!)

Imagine the rules are the same as they are both owned by BAA.

I had sealed cartons of formula and they were fine. Had a few ml milk in a sippy cup (literally forgot to empty it out from her morning drink on the way to the airport!) and they were fine with that but it was literally a drop or two.

Not sure about the purees - they would probably ask you to open them. Could you not buy them past security in Boots?

For snacks on our recent 4 hr flights I took rice cakes, cookies and Haribos! But what she enjoyed most of all was the in flight meals! Weird child!

Oh and FYI, Millie is 21 months too!

Thanks, that's reassuring. We have so much to deal with, the last thing I need is our kid's snacks being confiscated.

Have a fab trip! When do you fly and I'll give you a wave - our house is right in the flight path!

Just wanted to update on how things went.

We were carrying individual serving size boxes of rice milk and pots of baby fruit puree. We had to open and taste one of each, but thankfully not all the boxes of milk or pots of fruit. The staff were really patient with us, which is good because getting through security with a toddler takes a lot of time!
