Anyone make "Emma's Unmentionables" from Knitty?

Hey gals! I'm currently knitting "Emma's Unmentionables" from the previous Knitty. They're looking awesome, except that I can't figure out the lace part, more specifically how it is knitted onto the ruffle. I got so frustrated that I just knitted a picot edge instead of the lace, but I'd really like to try another pair with the lace. Anyone else have better luck puzzling it out? TIA!

You'll have live stitches left on your circ needle that are going to be knit together with the edging.

Cast on 5 stitches onto a DPN and work the 1st row of the edging. Turn and work row 2 as follows:
Sl 1 knitwise, k2, p1, k1
You will have one stitch left on your left hand needle. You are going to slip it to your circ needle that is holding the live leg stitches and ditch the empty DPN.

Knit the stitch you slipped together with the first stitch on your circular. YOu have now joined the lace to the leg.

Now turn and work row three and so on.

Every even row will have you working toward the leg and will have one edging stitch knit together with one leg stitch.

Thanks for the explanation. When I tried it myself, I managed to get as far as the first k2tog, but then when I turned the work, it seemed like everything got twisted, and I imagined that if I turned after each row, it would keep twisting on itself. Does that make sense? I couldn't visualize how it would all come together, hence the picot!
