My 8yo daughter is the youngest of my 5 and has rarely seen a breastfeeding child of any age. In the area we live, breastfeeding is rare and there is no NIP happening. Thoughout her life I have made sure she understood that babies are BF just like other mammals and that she was BF just like her brothers and sister.
She has generally not responded or just looked kinda embarrassed to discuss it, but I pushed on just bringing it up when relevant. Well, the other day we were shopping and she wanted to look at the toys. She picked up a Barbie that had a dog and puppies in the pack. As she was looking I noticed that the Barbie was holding a bottle with which to feed one of the puppies. I just said "Thats ridiculous" mostly meaning that they come up with all these weird toys (ie the dog that poops, brats dolls-which I hate). She said "Yeah, I know. Like that puppy wouldn't BF!" Don't know if what puppys do is called breastfeeding but I just said " Oh I just meant they have weird toys, but you are right. THats even weirder now!" and we laughed about it.
