Ashburn Pediatrician and VBAC question

We just moved to Ashburn from Reston, and I'm looking for an alterna-vax-friendly pediatrician around here for my 15 month old. We were going to NOVA Pediatrics in Vienna, but I had bad experiences there (being told that breaking up the MMR was "silly," for example), plus it's too far from here anyway. I desperately want to get in at Whole Child, but they're not taking new patients. Can anyone recommend another pediatrician around here? I'm willing to go to Sterling, Leesburg, etc.

Also, I'm not pregnant yet, but I want to have a VBAC when we do have #2. I'd love to go to Loudoun County Midwives, but they won't take me because I've had a C. Can anyone recommend a VBAC-friendly OB around here? Again, I'm willing to drive a bit, but I do want to deliver at Loudoun hospital.

My understanding is once Dr.Chamberlin comes back from maternity leave Whole Child will be taking new patients, its worth the wait. Good luck!

My MWs do VBACs. Ever considered a HB?

I have a VBAC planned with Perfectly Female, in reston (they have an ashburn office as well), though they don't have privileges at Loudon hospital. And to be honest, while they claim to be encouraging of the VBAC, it's been kind of an uphill battle. I was ready for it though

I really like the docs at Whole Child Peds in Ashburn.

The docs at Loudoun Physicians for Women are great and will allow you a trial of labor if you wish.

HTH.

Ack! I posted, then didn't check back : I actually went to Loudoun Physicians for Women for my last annual. Someone on DC Urban Moms (I think) suggested them for VBAC. But when I said that to them at the office, they seemed sort of surprised. But it's good to hear someone else suggest them!

As far as Whole Child, is there a waiting list I can get on? Anyone know?

I really liked my OB practice, Women Physicians of Northern Virginia. They have an office in Ashburn. I particularly liked the head of the practice, Dr. Ivey-Crowe, who delivered me. I never had a problem with them going along with whatever I wanted to do. They have privileges at Loudoun Hospital, but they deliver at Reston.

Keep in mind that Reston has the highest c/s rate in the area.

If it were me, I'd revisit Loudoun Physicians for Women. I've discussed vbacs with 2 of the docs and both were very supportive. The practice "ditched" the tywo older male docs earlier this year, and its all women docs now.

As far as Whole Child, I think I heard they'll open up when Dr. Chamberlain (one of the docs) returns from maternity leave (soon I think), I'd check back soon.

Thanks. Yeah, I know that I want to deliver at Loudoun, not least because it's really close to my house, but I've also heard good things.

Is there a particular doctor at Loudoun Physicians for Women that people like? I didn't really vibe with the one I saw. I didn't hate her, but I wasn't in love either, you know? I had sort of the same vibe from the OB who delivered my son (in Austin, TX), and I'd like a better experience next time.

I called Whole Child, and I think I'm on a waiting list. Or, in any case, they took my contact info, but it was really confusing. I'll probably call back in a month to check on it.
