Anyone tried this to treat high blood pressure?

I had slightly elevated blood pressure during my pregnancy with my son. It wasn't anything my doctor was too concerned with. However, I had several issues during labor, one of which was very high blood pressure. Fortunately, it didn't develop into actual pre-e. I ran across this:

and was wondering if anyone has tried it, or know of someone who has? I'd like to find ways to prevent my bp from skyrocketing during pg or labor if we have anymore children. That stupid bp monitor drove me up the wall and wouldn't allow me to get any rest since it would turn on every 15 minutes!

That's interesting. I would think that it would be pretty sugary and might make things worse, but maybe other aspects balance that out? I also think that nitrates and nitrites are more dangerous in pregnancy and infants because they're more likely to lead to cancer, but maybe that only applies to the artificial stuff in things like preserved meats?

Have you tried the Brewer diet or anything like that?

I didn't try the Brewer diet when I had my son because I didn't realize there might be a need to. I plan on doing more research into diets that might help blood pressure and to prevent PROM next time.

I thought nitrates were only an issue with babies once they were born and breathing on their own? I thought that was one reason they recommended formula fed babies near farmland to have only bottled water in their bottles, rather than tap water.

I think that sometimes, esp at the end of pregnancy, bp rises normally. care providers have a tendency to over-exaggerate treatment and dangers of this normal physiological change.

jsut how high was your bp?

During labor it was 140/99. I'm not sure if that's the highest or not. It's the only one I remember, but I am going to the hospital next week to get our records to see what exactly happened.

I just copied this from a post I made a long time ago on here.

I highly recommend the book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You about: Hypertension" by Mark C Houston. It's a great book and really helped me get my blood pressure down from very high to normal within about a month - 6 weeks. All with natural supplements.

I also recommend "Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Years" by Susun Weed. On page 47 it lists (what I've heard called) the "cream of tartar protocol"... actually heard about it on these forums first... it's very simple:
Take the juice of half a lemon, 2 tsp cream of tartar, and mix it all with a cup of water... take once a day for 3 days. You can then rest for 2 days and repeat again if it hasn't lowered your BP enough. I did that only once and my BP at my appointment was lower than ever before... I'd been averaging 130/80 and it was 120/68!!!
