Glad to see I am not the only one with a problem with non-traditional carbs
ha! not by a long shot.

I feel almost just right but still a little underweight b/c of losing too much while bf'ing (not following a very tf diet at that time). I'd like to gain another 5 lbs or so of healthy fat & muscle.

Totally here! I may be just right or a bit underweight, but I wouldn't mind gaining muscle. I gained 50 lbs during my pregnancy, and lost more than that, and now I have a lot of flab. My butt is smaller than ever, but could use some work.

I'm 5'6" and currently around 145... I'm hoping to get back down to 135, so voted a lil overweight... but honestly, I'm pretty happy with 145 even

I'm 5'6 and 165 lbs. I voted a little overweight but lately have been feeling huge. I gained about 20 lbs when I stopped nursing 2.5 years ago. I've also been very tired and wonder if I may have a thyroid issue. I am very active and good nutrition is a priority in my life. I took a fitness class this summer, 4 nights a week, but it just made me feel more tired. Now I'm starting a new job that I will walk/bike to so maybe that will help.

5'5 and 125lbs. Dropped from my decade long vegan weight of 144.

I'm 5'7" and 126. I was hovering around 135 forever till I started eating meat again, which also equated to more fat and no more grains/legumes. I feel like I'm still losing weight but very very slowly.

I haven't posted in forever!

Anyways, I say just right, though everyone else tells me I'm skinny. I'm healthy and eat enough for myself so I don't worry.

According to the BMI calculators, I'm obese (although just on the border and I haven't been on a scale in a few days; I might actually be down into the "overweight" catagory now.)

I do know that, at what I consider to be a healthy weight, I'll either be in the bottom of the 'overweight" category or the very top of the "normal weight" category. I've been on a low-carb diet for over a year and the extra pounds are slowly but surely coming off. I'll be very satisfied if I end up 10 lbs heavier than I was in high school- and in fact I'd be very surprised (though pleasantly so) if I get lower than that.

Those BMI calculators are a very crude tool. They don't account for being "built like a peasant" with wide hips in spite of being short, and huge boobs that add 10 lbs to my weight. Nor do they account for somebody with slim build who may in fact be unhealthily carrying extra weight while still in the "normal weight' catagory. I personally would be underweight if I was in the middle of the 'normal weight" range.

Anyway, with a "healthy for me" diet (about 35 grams of net carbs per day) I'm approaching a healthy weight. I gained about 60 extra pounds by eating too many processed foods and far too many carbs.

Did you lose weight after being vegan or after you stopped being vegan?
Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm 5'2" tall and currently 165ish. I was about 132 lbs in high school before I started getting chubby, I was underweigh at my wedding when I weighed 128 (my ribs were sticking out and I felt too thin.) I was stable around 175 for years, but when my weight shot up to 190 a year ago I started the low-carb eating. I'm hoping to get down to around 140, but my body is in charge of that part.

I am about 5'4" here and hover around 118-121 lbs. That is pretty normal to me. I could defnitely work out more and be in better shape. I have gotten down lower, but that is with a very strict diet. I felt healthy at that weight as well and have been healthy at 125 as well.

After we stopped. I was a vegan for 10 years and looked okay, a little chubby and flabby. I had several years of being sugar addicted followed by several years of being mostly raw followed by several years of no sugar & no refined grains. My weight was stable at 144 throughout all that. I could get down to 135 sometimes with portion control but I was hungry and crabby so it never lasted.

First we added CLO to our diets to help my son's developmental delays. We did not supplement with DHA when we were vegan, only with flax and other ALAs, which I later found out do not convert adequately in young children to DHA. His speech skyrocketed right after starting the CLO. It was not the normal speech burst some delayed children experience. His therapists were amazed. It was def. the DHA.

Next we added in small amounts of raw milk and wild salmon. My energy came back and I stopped feeling tired all the time. I lost a few pounds. Next we transitioned into more traditional foods, pastured meat & eggs, and started phasing out grains as the staple of our meals. That's when I dropped 20 pounds, no effort.

I struggle a lot with the environmental concerns of TF. I am forced to admit that it revolutionized our family's health. I don't see how it's sustainable on a global scale. I think all vegans admit that it's better than factory farming, but still not as sustainable for the planet as veganism. It's hard to deny that we spent 5+ years doing everything 'right' as vegans and still had health issues.

I voted "Just Right" which I feel I am right now being a nursing mother of a 10mo. When my body is not pulsing with nursing hormones I feel better about 10 pounds less than I am right now.

I'm "officially" obese, and that really grinds my nerves... grrr... I know I'm not slender. I have a realistic view of myself. But.. obese? I think not. I'm 185 at 5' 4" tall, but I can chase my preschooler, run around playing light saber battles, dance, jump, crawl under tables for lost toys, etc. I dunno... I just feel too good to describe myself as obese. And, in the right clothes, I don't look a pound over 160. LOL

I really want to lose 45 pounds. My goal had been 160, sometimes I'd say 150, but when someone asked me recently "45" spilled out, and it surprised me. But now it kind of resonates with me. That's about what I weighed in high school... and I was NOT skinny. I've never really been skinny, since puberty. I was curvy and "fatter" than all the other girls on the pom pon squad. I hated it then. Now, of course, I would be THRILLED to look like that again. And, don't I deserve to be thrilled?

So... yeah... I've never ever tried to lose weight. Never stuck to any plan or idea for more than a week. It's time to DO something. I want to do it healthfully, though. My preschooler is weaning- nurses about every day and a half- so I'm not concerned about that anymore. It's time. (Time for a new thread, too, I'm getting OT.)

I am underweight. Especially right now, as I was recently ill for a full week with gastroenteritis and I lost probably 10 lbs. I'm 5'5" and probably 105-108 lbs right now. I was 118 at my well woman visit about 2 months ago, and I worked hard to get up there, 2 T of co in a homemade yogurt smoothie everyday, a quart of raw milk a day, and a half lb of butter every week. Extended bfing has been rough on me. I am used to being lean and well muscled. I need to gain about 10 lb of muscle and 2-3 lb of fat and I'd be happy, I do not feel good being this skinny. I still haven't had a period and my dd is 25 months old!

Plus my appetite is low, so it's hard to eat til I'm starving. I actually posted about this a while back (to no response, lol, it's weird how wanting to lose gets support but wanting to gain... not so much!)
: And my 14 month nursing like a newborn doesn't help much! (well, that's how it feels sometimes!)

I do have an appetite however. I am constantly hungry, and eat at least double of what dh eats . The other day I didn't have a bedtime snack and I actually felt almost faint the next morning.

It will be interesting to see how my TF diet affects me once ds2 is weaned or at least nursing less.

I'm 5'7 and about 140-145 lbs. I voted just right, I'm happy with my weight.

When I first started eating this way, about 9ish months ago I was at 165-170lbs, so I have lost a lot of weight in the last few months. Once I hit the 140-145 range, I stopped losing weight and have stayed here for about 3 months now. So this must be where I am supposed to be haha

i'm very overweight and i know it. i'm 5'8" and let's just say that i'd be thrilled to see 200 again. i've tried diets and all that and nothing seems to work. i cook gfcf most of the time and it's pretty healthy. we lean towards vegetarian, because i can't afford meat that often, but we do eat meat probably once a week or so, in some form.

i would dearly love to drop 50 or 60 pounds, but since i wrecked my back almost 2 years ago now, i just can't exercise that much, which makes it that much harder, of course! the most frustrating thing is... just before i tore the muscle in my back, i had started back taking dance (ballet and jazz) classes (which i loved) and was doing 4 classes a week, plus pilates and i had lost almost 30 pounds! after 6 months of barely being able to stand on my own, i had gained it all back plus 15, and i'm still on the wrong side of 250. it gets depressing.
