Who Is Still Nursing in the 3rd Tri? - Page 2

Update here--DD is starting to not ask for milk! This is kind of a weird thing to digest--I thought she would never stop and that I would for sure be tandeming. We were nursing first thing when she woke up in the morning and after her nap, but the last few days she's just stopped asking.
This morning she said "Can I have some..." and I was anticipating her saying "milk" but instead she stopped herself and said "I'm a monkey!" and starting making monkey sounds
She probably wouldn't have nursed yesterday at all except she fell on a cactus and it soothed her while dh pulled out all the spines.
I wonder if she'll take an interest again once the baby is here.
Anyway, I'm feeling a little weird about it, to be expected I guess!
Just wanted to share!

I've been wanting to revive this thread.

mochimama, what a change!

DD didn't ask to nurse this morning when she woke up. I wonder if she'll keep it up? She only nurses for 10 or so minutes at night and in the morning upon waking. If she drops the morning session we'd be down to once a day - I would love that!
Not sure if it's a new sensitivity thing on my part or if not getting milk when she nurses is causing her to latch incorrectly. Either way, it takes a LOT of patience. It just feels... ugh, can't describe it... not nice.

I have noticed an uptick in nursing, maybe 2-3x/day instead of 1-2x/day. I think it is related to school though. She started 2 weeks ago and it has been a big change. She says my milk taste different, no more puke taste. She latched on the other day and it sounded like she was having an orgasm. She said it tasted so good.

How did I miss this thread the first time around?

We are still going here. DD2 is nursing twice a day, sometimes more. No pain, but I haven't had any since the 2nd trimester started. I also still have plenty of milk. She seems to be becoming more and more attached to it lately. She is always commenting on how much she loves milky whenever she sees me topless. She also has taken to caressing them when we are snuggling. She says that she wants to share her milky with Baby Sissy when she comes. I am hoping that generosity lasts once it is a reality.

J is asking more often to nurse again, and it seems to be hurting less... hmmm. I don't know why!

I think I spoke too soon my last post...dd is back to wanting milk a lot! I think it has to do with her feeling under the weather. I figured colostrum was the best thing for her so nursed her freely. Breasts still hurt a bit, I'm hoping it'll phase out towards the very end. I can't imagine being sore and starting up nursing a newborn!
I need to start reviewing how to get a proper latch--hasn't been a problem with dd for a Loooooooooooooooong time.
How are you other nursing mamas doing?
Well i am actively only nurseing twice per day, when she first wakes up and when she is going down for a nap. She isn't happy about it but it is getting better.

We are hanging in there. 2-3x/day, went up a little since dd started school. No soreness, but the contractions are a doozy! I miss having big boobs like when I was pg last time though. They have grown a little and I am surprised that my right breast(dd doesn't nurse on that side anymore) is not bigger than my left.

I have moments when I wish she was done, but it is not going to happen. And right now is not a good time to wean.

I've had to completely stop the morning nursing session. She was latching on like a straw. I would try to fix it, but nothing I was saying was working. Anybody have any tips on how to re-teach a 3 year old how to latch? She is still nursing to sleep, but that takes literally 3 minutes. The other night she nursed for 10-15 minutes and I thought I was going to cry - contractions, sore nipples... ugh.

Have you tried a different position? Maybe that will help her latch on properly. When dd gets lazy and in a not-so-normal position, I tell her to latch properly. Then she is a drama queen about it, but it works. I use my fingers and tell her how to latch.

DD has become super clingy to me and if Id let her would nurse nonstop all day.. Ive been limiting it to naptime and bedtime.. or when she is really upset about something (like Daddy leaving her after lunch yesterday).

Yes, I have tried different positions Asked her tonight if there's any milk and she said no - maybe she'll latch correctly when the baby is born and there is milk again?

It's BACK!!

My milk, that is. :

It's been the weirdest thing, not being able to express ANYTHING. Usually, I can express a few drops at least by hand (or, in the first year or so after each kid was born, shoot streams across a room...), but I haven't been able to since early in the pregnancy.

I've tried every once in awhile though... a couple of weeks ago, I still couldn't, but today, there it was! No wonder ds has been eager to nurse more lately.

Is it full blown milk? I thought that it stays as colostrum until the new one arrives. My "milk" seems to be colostrum right now.
It's... a weird mix. It's like mature milk mixed with drops of colostrum. I guess it's just not homogenized?

Colostrum here too. Funny! My toddler looooves it! :

Still nursing here, and when I express some it looks totally like colostrum now...but DS doesn't seem to mind!

Hi all. Long-time lurker giving this thread a bump. In the past couple weeks DS2 (4) has gone from nursing 2-3 times a day to 3-5 times a day. Has a lot to do with me being 39 wks pregnant with baby sister, and a ton of colostrum coming in fast! (Sorry to post in Nov. but I have late babies!) Just wondering how the nursing mamas are doing? Been trying to swallow hard and take the nipple pain (not as bad as early preg.) and occasional lazy latch (feels TERRIBLE, I have to instantly correct) because I have oversupply and tandeming is good for us...

Looking fwd to hearing how you're doing Thanks...

We are still nursing, and it stiiiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllllll HURTS! Can't wait to have this baby so the pg nipple pain goes away!
Still nursing here about 2x a day. I don't have nearly the nipple pain as before but lazy latch has become an issue. Sometimes I have teeth marks on one side. Dd likes to take a look after I mention it, but I know she's not doing it on purpose. Still talking about sharing milk here, so tandeming is probably in our future!
Hope you other nursing mamas are doing well
