I am in the process of looking for a new digital camera. My target price is about 100-150. I would prefer something with around 7 mp and it has to have zoom. What kind of camera do you have and what do you like and not like about it????

I have the Sony Cybershot. I LOVE it. It's my first real good camera. Depending on which megapixel etc you can get it cheap or expensive. Mine is 8.1 megapixels.

I have this one, too. I love it, but my mom and my best friend both have the Finepix by Fujifilm and I love it even more.

my next purchase!

I have a Nikon Coolpix 8.0-costs more than what you're interested in spending, but it's a sweet little digital.

I love my camera. It does great stills and as long as you don't get too crazy, it does pretty good video also. : It's the Canon Powershot A710 IS. It's 7.1 MP. I bought it last year. I do think I paid out of your price, but not terribly so. I think it's around $180 now. I like that it uses 2 AA batteries which isn't expensive provided you use rechargeable batteries.

I have the Sony Cybershot too (DSC-S700). Cybershots are all I've ever owned for a digital camera. This has 7.2 megapixels, a 2.4" screen (big!), internal memory (expandable with a memory stick), and a nice little wheel on top that lets me take a variety of pictures, including ISO1000, which is low-light no flash. Comes in very handy. It's a very intuitive camera to use, and there's little shutter delay (this was an issue I had with previous Cybershots). It's routinely priced ~$150, I think, but I got mine on sale.

I've got a Canon Powershot SD750 that I bought 3 months ago. LOVE IT! I don't know how much it is in the US though since I bought it in Canada, and our electronics are ALWAYS more expensive even when you account for the currency conversion. :

What I love about it is that its my "diaperbag" camera. It can take video as well as shots, so whenever I happen to need a video camera, there it is. Big screen, small camera.

Another vote for the Canon Powershot SX100. Love love love mine.

My camera rocks! But it's a Canon 40D, significantly out of the price range. I would recommend my p&s, but I'm pretty sure I paid $250ish for it a few years ago. It's the Canon S3 IS. There's also the newer version of it out now - the S5.

Another vote for the Sony Cybershot. I drug my feet forever about buying a digital camera. I loved everything about my nice heavy 35 mm. However, I officially quit scrapbooking (I even sold all my stuff at a yard sale so I wouldn't see it and feel guilty) and started blogging, and I wanted a digital camera, so I could post pics on my blog. I love it!

Canon 20D here. I've been able to use all of my lenses from back in photo classes over 10 years ago.

I love my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1. It's an older model, but I like the whole Lumix range. Mine is about 6 megapixels I think. This is a good value, "mom" camera. It has 10X zoom which is great for chasing kids with. It has image stabilisation for when your kid in the back carrier makes you shake. And it's small and fits in my pocket. It's lasted a year, the battery lasts, it has a charger. It's a simple camera, probably wouldn't make a camera buff happy. And I got a great deal on it at Costco online.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions! My DH has a fancy canon camera with removeable lenses, but I was just looking for something that was easy to carry and download the pictures. I went to Best Buy and bought the Sony Cybershot. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but it looks like I got a lot of camera for what I paid for:

Another vote for the Panasonic Lumix series. They're really a good value for the number of features and have great lenses.

I have a canon sd1000

We paid $183.15 for it (we got it at a pre-Christmas sale last year)

Here are the specs:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...&modelid=14901

7.1 Mega pixels
3.0x optical zoom
4.0x digital zoom
red-eye correction
nice LARGE preview/view screen
face detection (auto focus centers on faces - most of the time!)
regular view finder - this was a big selling point for me, as I have found the the digital viewing screen is worthless on really bright sunny days!

Here's my camera - I've had it for almost a year, and I love it.

I like the fact that it uses AA batteries, and takes surprisingly good video. It is easy to use, but has a lot of nice features.
