Blood drawn for ALCAT today

Pheww that's done! I hate having my own blood taken never mind my LO's!
We should know sometime in the next week or so I would imagine. I am excited to see, yet nervous about the results. We already know that he is allergic to peanut, wheat, egg(both) and dairy. I also suspect tomato, corn and dust/mold. Time will tell! It will be nice to be able to pinpoint the missing triggers a little more conclusively now

How many foods did you have tested? I made the mistake of only getting 50 done, and he had alot of ones that I had never noticed. So to only have him eating the green/safe ones, didn't leave him much, so I ended up getting another 100 foods tested for him. Now that he's avoiding all the foods he's supposed to, I can tell if he's had too much of a yellow/mild one (or a combination of yellow ones) easily by mood changes. Before I just thought he was a really needy kid, and now he's only like that on certain days and it's easily traceable. I'm still waiting to find out if insurance is covering any of ours though.

Kathy we had the 100 foods done. Did you do the consult with the nutritionist too? I am really excited about that part

I had 50 done. But my son isn't on solids yet and they said they aren't sure how accurate it is. I'm wondering if I should do more. His list and my list don't overlap much so I'm at a loss as to what I can eat. I feel like I screwed this up and doing another blood draw on him will be traumatic.

I did the 50 first, even though they tried to get me to do more. I thought I was SURE of the foods he was reacting to, but apparently he was reacting to a lot more than I thought. So then I had to eat crow, and ask for more foods. I got the 200 foods for DD so they only had to stick her "once" (of course she actually got stuck 4 times at 2 labs because they had trouble with her little veins). I bribed DS with a new book for each blood test!

I didn't talk to the nutritionist (I think that was only included on the big draw). With the foods they have, they do have a pretty balanced diet. On one of his days, he doesn't have much protein (choice of lentils or whitefish) but he does really well with proteins on the other days so I think it's evening out.
