Pre-conception diet?

So....I am hoping that Dh and I will start trying for #2 sometime in the next 6 months, and I would like both of us to be as healthy as possible. What is a good pre-conception diet? Is there anything in particular that we need to add or make sure we are getting?

Thanks, ladies!!

Here is the recommended diet for pregnant and nursing moms - and prob the best for pre-conception. I'd also still take a folic acid/folate supplement - but then I was almost born with spina bifida - my spine is barely fused together there. So I feel it is, for some reason, necessary.

Good luck!

I'm in the same boat.. Trying to get off to a really good start this time, as well as lose a few extra pounds before I get pregnant again. That's what lead me to TF. I'm trying to slowly incorporate it all in. I'm also trying to detox a bit using various techniques, and eat as organic as possible. It's a struggle for me to get as much milk as they recommend on the WAP site. I try and have a smoothie once a day with raw milk, plain yogurt, fruit, coconut oil, almonds, flax seeds and this helps. I'm also trying to make a batch of bone broth each week and make a soup that I eat for lunch that contains tons of veggies and protein. I'm trying to avoid sugar and "bad carbs" as much as I can, as well as artificial sweeteners.

I'm just starting on TF so my diet is not 100% yet but here is my typical pre-conception diet day including supplements (ideal--I don't hit the ideal everyday quite yet :/ )

breakfast: 2 egg omelet cooked in tiny bit of coconut oil with tons of veggies and a piece of fruit

Snack: smoothie

Lunch: Soup made from bone broth (could be chicken and brown rice w/veggies, or asian noodle style, etc.)

snack: cottage cheese or yogurt w/fruit and glass of milk

Dinner: This varies so widely but I try and have a good amount of protein and leafy veggies such as kale or swiss chard., and sometimes a small amount of a "good carb" I also attempt to have a rainbow dinner, and vary the meat/protein source I eat each day like chicken one day, salmon the next, beef the next and so on.

Supplements/extras that I (try to) take throughout the day:

zeolite cellular defense for heavy metal detox
Kombucha (right now I'm just drinking about 1 store bought one per day)
High Vit CLO
cal/mag/zinc
B complex w/ 800 mg of folic acid
Probiotics
Vit. D (because I'm deficient)
Vit. E

Nettle, alfalfa & Red Rasp. tea (from loose leaf)

raw honey mixed with a tiny bit of coconut oil before bed

at least a half gallon of water (I still need to figure out what the best kind of water is...lol) in addition to my tea and kombucha and milk. I should get more water than that I think but I have a hard time with that.

Sauna a few times a week after a workout.

I'd also love to start juicing in the near future...
