Someone please help! I need a natural way as these ants are in my kitchen and I have three young ones and three cats and a snake who all hang out in the kitchen regularly.

Terro Ant Killer. You can find it at True Value. It's made from Borax and corn syrup and is totally non toxic. It will take a week or so before they totally disappear but it really does work.

If you need an additional idea - we have had very good success with a natural product called 'Bugs R Done'.

We have tried it all and they never go away for long. Now we live with them. I got so tired of putting so much energy toward their destruction I just gave up.

We do, of course, try to keep them within bounds, as you would with any irritating roommate.

We just wait until they go away for the cooler months -- which should be happening soon.

Good luck to you.

I think it depends on what kind of ants you have. Some ants are attracted to sugar, some to grease. The Terro works great on the sugar ants, although it is only temporary -- apparently the queen isn't getting killed. So we have to do it every season. The Terro, I have found, doesn't work at all on the grease ants. They totally ignore it. Luckily, those ants don't come inside our house!

I had a fire ant problem myself. I sprayed Simple Green on them, which killed them, and caulked any openings I could find. They kept coming. So I got guinea hens and NO MORE ANTS!
Good luck.
