I know that some of you moms here are in-home daycare providers, and boy, do I have questions for you!
I'm a SAHM currently but need to find a way to make some money. I LOVE kids. I'm the oldest of six, so mommy-ing comes naturally. I'm very much into the healthy, crunchy AP lifestyle, so I'd provide a tv-free, interactive environment. Now that ds is one, I feel like I can handle other kids without being too distracted. Also, ds would love to have some playmates.
So here are my questions, lol:
1) How did you get started doing in-home daycare?
2) How do you find potential clients?
3) How much do you charge?
4) I'd be able to provide odd hours of care, like overnights or weekends. Do these things cost more?
5) What is expected of you? Are you expected to feed full meals for your charges? Do you pick them up (say, from preschool or something similar)? etc
6) Is it worth it? Are you happy doing this?
7) What's the best part of the job?
8) What's the worst part?
9) Is there anything you wish you'd known before you started?
10) What are some mistakes to avoid?
11) What are the requirements for being a home daycare provider where you live? (I know it varies by state, but I'd like to get some ideas, lol)
Sorry I'm so clueless. I've never worked in a daycare so I have no idea what is & isn't common. I do have a college degree but I'd rather find something I can do while being home with ds.
