I'm new here, so feel free to put me in my place but I can't grasp why your post was necessary? Again, she had received her advice and had resolved the situation. I'm not sure why you felt the need to make her know that you knew the teacher's intent from the beginning. I have seen quite a bit of this attitude here since joining this forum. I suppose that means it's time for me to move on! ;-)
Thanks for the support ella, I really appreciate it.

I try to just ignore posts that work me up and focus on all the really helpful, supportive, interesting posts, but sometimes I respond reactively. ( I know ). I hope you stay with the forum - I've learned a lot here and I have a lot of fun and the helpful posts outnumber the annoying ones for me - as long as I'm choosy about which threads I frequent anyway .

I think it may be something along the lines someone else mentioned here. The boys probably outnumbered the girls in this class. Placeing children by sex is pretty common in school. Who knows if it is to make kids feel more confortable, making chit chat less, or to allow to kids have to one way or another sit by someone that wouldn't normally be aqainted with. It also could have simply been a problem solving activity, so the kids would essentually be organizing themselves. They would have to agree upon who could and couldn't sit in what row.

Personally, as kids get older I think it's wonderful when they make the boys sit up front and girls in the back in PE. Unfortunatly that only happened in my dreams : . Hopefully one day PE teachers will realize that girls hate the front because then they have to hear snickering and take stares at their bouncing boobs and jiggling butts from dirty boys during warm up exercises.

These lines and rows are generally where the kids do their warm ups. push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, stretches, etc. (I hated it once I started growing boobs.) Typically kids are seated in alphabetical order from front to back rows. i prayed for the back or outside row. never got it. There isn't much for interaction in between student and children while in these seating arrangement so I wouldn't worry about a child in the back being ignored or looked over like in a class scenerio. PE teachers generally tune out completely or walk around the entire group during the wrm up exercises.

OP, I'm glad you asked the teacher and got a reasonable answer. Here's a suggestion: next time, try doing that first before jumping to conclusions! This makes me wonder what misconceptions my students' parents have about me! No one here is going to know what your kid's teacher was thinking--only the teacher does, so ask directly.

Seriously?

Don't you know that at MDC it's all about how horrible the world outside our cave is? What's the incentive feedback for any poster to stop and think and chat with an actual person, when the phlem-- and post view count --can fly crazy, right off?
