Hoe's Down Harvest festival at Full Belly Farm

Anyone planning on going to this in October? We went last year and it was fantastic, so wholesome and wonderful. I've been looking for an authentic harvest celebration for a few years here, and nothing has touched the couple I went to in upstate NY and Vermont. However, Hoe's Down exceeded my expectations by far! And now that dd is a toddler, we'll be able to participate in some of the hands-on children's activities they have! Anyway, just spreading the : for those of you that don't know about it.

We didn't go last year since they wanted to charge to get in. We've been in the past, and it was fantastic!

We may still go again this year, as we may be able to afford it and possibly camp nearby to make it worthwhile.

The Hoes Down is one of my favorite events of the year. Full Belly is a magical place full of warm and wonderful and dedicated people.

I love the kids area. Where else can your kid harvest wheat, thresh it, grind it into flour and make his own tortillas? Then top it off with salsa he makes from vegetables picked right there at the farm?

It's amazing to me how much time and dedication the staff and interns at FB put into that celebration.

dillonandmarasmom, did you know that you can get in free just by volunteering for a two hour shift? That's what we do every year.

My son is old enough now that we give him a walkie-talkie and he has the run of the place with one of the kids who lives there. My daughter is two this year, so it will be the first year she'll really be able to get into the kid stuff.

I can't wait to go! Thanks for reminding me that this is on the horizon; you totally made my afternoon.
