adding vinegar to herb infusions/teas?

My cousin said that she added raw apple cider vinegar to her herbs when making tea. She said that it pulls out the minerals the best. Has any one heard of this? If so, how would you do this specifically? How much herb, vinegar, water, time?

I've never heard that. Then again, there are a lot of things I've never heard of.

FWIW, Susun Weed doesn't use it in her infusions. She says to brew an ounce of dried herb in a quart of water. Cover tightly, and let sit for several hours or overnight. IIRC, she says the water will draw out the minerals as it cools.

OTOH (there's always another hand, isn't there?), studies have shown that acid on greens helps to make minerals more available to you. So I always put lemon juice or vinegar on mine while I'm cooking them or when serving. I think that what I read said which type of acid worked best for which type of green, but I don't remember. But, maybe this would apply to herbs, too?

OK, I've been totally not helpful here. Hopefully someone else knows more.

Well now I have got to ask my cousin for more details. I would have asked her for more specific info, but she lives off grid with snail mail as the only means of communication. Off to write her a letter...
