Cranial osteopath in Boulder area, anyone?

A few years ago a friend recommended Dr Harold Magown Jr (sp?) in Englewood. I haven't persued this dr because of the schlep from Boulder. DH goes (well went, because he hasn't been in a while) to a good DO in south Boulder who's name now escapes him . However, I don't know if she has any experience in pediatric cranial osteopathy and neither does he. So to cut to the quick, anyone know of a good/experience DO who does cranial work on children not too far from Boulder?

Replying to my own post so soon .

It's Dr Harold Magoun and he is in Greenwood Village. Anyone been to him or even heard of him?

Hey!
The D.O. we took dd to in OKC recommended Magoun when we moved to Evergreen. We went for about 5 sessions in OKC. I can't say I noticed any improvements, but her issue was mercury toxicity and once we found a way to start getting it out that she could actually tolerate (with our 22nd practitioner we found in Evergreen - awesome NAET/acupuncturist) we finally saw drastic improvements after 3 years of searching.

I used this site to find our D.O. in OKC and called the office to request his number of years working with peds before going :

I noticed they listed 4 in Boulder.

Good luck!

Hi Moneca!

I already "found" the four in Boulder and am leaning towards Boulder Osteopathic Center, either Sharon Stanley or Keith Swan, I need to call them to see which one has more ped experience.

I would call Dr. Sharon Stanley at the Boulder Osteopathic Center. She was unbelivably good to me when I was pregnant with dd and then treated dd after she was born. She does a full body treatment and includes crainal work, and is also a homeopath in addition to being a DO. I couldn't rave enough about her. They're on Pearl St. just east of the mall. 303-444-8393

Thanks . This is who I am leaning towards. FWIW, my children have no health issues, but both are mouth breathers and I want to do my best to ensure this doesn't effect pallet growth and optimal lung capacity (both are budding athletes). DH is somewhat of a mouth breather so I think they probably inherited the trait from him. I assume I would have no issue with her regarding vaxes. Not that I am shy about putting anyone in their place if they try and "talk" to me about the subject.

One other question, do you know their fee rate? They do take our insurance but our deductible is high, so we usually opt to pay out of pocket.

I'm pretty sure that she's against vaccines. When we were seeing her we were vaxxing dd but spreading them out (it was before I quite vaxxing altogether), and she made a comment that getting them all at once is no good. I know she treated our first midwife's apprentice's son for whooping cough as well.

I can't remember, but I do remember that it seemed quite expensive. They didn't take our insurance, and for some reason the number $180 sticks out in my mind.

Thank you so much for the information. $180 seems like the going rate for practitioners here.

I've been seeing Sharon Stanley for a couple of years, and I would recommend her highly. She does craniosacral therapy, manipulations if you wish it, and homeopathy. I have a 14 month old son, and I brought him to see her for a couple of sessions after he was born. When he was 9 months old he was just learning to walk, falling down frequently, and was becoming quite fussy. Sharon did a quick treatment, and I had my sunny baby back!

Her fees are about $200/session, and then you would have your insurance discount. Our deductible is $2200/year, so I know how important it is to plan and budget carefully.
