Meeting with Doctor about Delaying Vacs

We did not delay vacs with my daughter, although we contemplated it. We are now expecting a son in one month and really want to delay vacs and avoid giving vacs.

My husband and I are meeting with the doctor in one week. This is a new pediatrician - we switched about a year ago. I'd like to have some basic knowledge of what specifically I'm wanting.

I've skimmed the messages here and particularly the schedules people are using and it is over my head. Can someone suggest a good basic resource guide or book to read that is fairly simple?

TIA

Are you meeting to discuss this one issue specifically is there another purpose to the meeting? Just wondering what s/he will be anticipating.

I liked dr sears' the vaccine book. lots of info on whats in the vaccines(and the different ingredients in different brands), info on the diseases, when they are typically given, reactions to them, ect

My 4 1/2 year old is getting some of her 4 year old/kindergarten shots. She doesn't start K until next year, but we are spacing out those shots. So the appointment is for that. But I told the scheduling person that I wanted extra time, even if I had to pay for it, to meet with the doctor about our new little one. Since we didn't have this doctor when DD was in infant, I want to know what to expect.

We researched doctors and practices and a friend of ours goes to the same doctor and is doing delayed vax. They're open to it, but tend to go on the parent's scheduling preferences so I need to be prepared.

I just read the Dr. Sears book and really liked it. I am thinking of giving it to my family practitioner. I think a lot of docs simply don't know much about vaccines but just follow the AAP recs. The Sears book is NOT anti-vax but makes arguments that I think most docs won't be opposed for several alternate schedules. His chapter on aluminum is especially interesting and puts forth a very good argument for not doing multiple shots at once. This book is a great starting point imo.

Thirding the Dr Sears book. It was easy for me to digest because it is broken down by vaccine. It isn't anti-vax, but presents a good argument on delaying and spacing them out.

Although when I brought up aluminum in vax, my ds's first doc said it was also in deoderant. I said yep and I have MAJOR issues with that and dont' use deo.
