Breastfeeding Challenge 2008

Hi everyone,

I'm in Calgary, Canada and am part of a group organizing the BF challenge in our city. I originally was just going to participate but then had an idea that it would be great to do cards thanking those who support breastfeeding (friends, family, organizations). I'm thinking of just getting the BF symbol printed on cards and having a little "thank you" exercise at the event.

Does anyone have any other ideas or know if these cards maybe already exist?

Would love your feedback on this. I thought about thanking people when I remembered that an aunt of mine shocked the heck out of me (as a 19 year old) by BF her toddler (22 months) right in front of me without (GASP!) covering herself! I laugh now to think of how shocking and uncomfortable this made me at the time...now I want to thank her for making that a lasting image in my mind and being part of the influence to nurse DD past a year.

Would love to hear from you lactivist mamas,

Lizette

In Halifax here

I don't have a clue about the cards but I think that is such a sweet idea and now I want to do it...I have two aunts that breastfed and really opened my eyes to it. I should thank them.

Do you have clip art for the symbol to make the card? Let me knopw if you have a link. I know Mothering has a symbol they developed, I wonder is it available on here somewhere....

Oh and I just remembered my friend sent me a card last Christmas with a nursing mom on it...it wasn't really a Christmas card, it kinda looked Madonna-and-child but I don't think it was actually supposed to be them. I kept it to frame, I'll see if I can find it and will post the info for you. It was pretty.

Here's where the symbol's from:

They also have cafe press now where I've found that the cards are available. For the scope of this event though I'm not sure if we can afford to purchase them.
