I'd just let them eat the treats. I didn't buy them, so it's not like I'm putting money in Nestle's pocket. Also, I don't want my children to resent my Nestle boycott. It's one thing to refuse to buy Nestle myself, but I think it would be kind of mean to snatch their treats away.

I'm with daylily ~ My kids may grumble, but they understand why we don't give our money to Nestle. They will be doing a happy dance knowing they can eat them because we didn't pay for them. They also get excited when gramma buys something from Nestle, but while they're wolfing down the sweet-tarts, they tell her why mommy won't buy it ~ spreading the news and thereby shooting themselves in the foot! (or is that sweettooth?) :LOL

I've always considered my boycotting of Ne$tle and Rain's boycotting of Ne$tle to be two separate things, so what she does when given Ne$tle candy has always been her choice. Some years she has said "No, thank you" at the door and returned it, other years she has sorted it out and traded it with friends, others years she's kept it and eaten it. I don't know what she's planning this year.

We do the same, we didn't give them the money, and while I wish the neighbors hadn't either, wasting the candy isn't very environmental either.

Interesting, ds and I were just talking about it. He boycots Nestle by his own choice. He also tells people why he boycots Nestle and askes them not to purchase their products.

My daugher could care less, it's chocolate, therefore, it's good. We still tell her how we feel and why, but she's just not ready to listen.

Ds sorted his candy by Nestle and non-Nestle :LOL but he did have a few Crunch bars He's just thinking it all through before he has it.

I agree, my choice to not buy or consume Nestle products is just that - my choice. I do try to educate my children and hope that they'll truly understand one day. But Halloween is a fun holiday and I just want them to enjoy themselves and not worry about 'politics'. Given a choice, they would choose a NON-Nestle product.

I'm pleased to say, I talked to my 16 year old neice about Nestle a few months ago and sent her some info - she's now Nestle free and spreading the good word throught her high school I adore my neice! What an amazing young lady!

Here's more info. The boycott has been going on since the seventies - it was off for a few years in there, but not long.
