I just got a macbook and the book that came with it does not say how to do this. I looked on apples web site and can not find it either. Maybe it's too simple a question. but all the computers i have ever had had a pop out tray. Do i just put the movie in there and it sucks it in? do i have to do something then or does it just start? And how do i get the movie out again? I ordered a book on macs but it wont be here till monday.

also is there anyway to make the print bigger? There words are so small on here its hard to see them. Or is there a way to make the screen bigger? The plus sign makes it bigger but it still doesnt take up all the screen. Maybe that is as big as it gets?

Oooooo! I can maybe help!

Okay, you just slide your DVD in that slot. The machine will suck it in.

To eject it you hit the button with the eject symbol...it's a black triangle over a line.

When you start the movie, this menu kind of thing will show up and eventually disappear...to make it come back, just run your finger over the top part of the mouse area on your keypad, and the menu looking thing will reappear. Also, there will be an eject option on the menu thing.

Okay, to make the print bigger...at the top of the the macbook, there should be several things like an apple, it will say firefox ( or safari or whatever you are using) File, Edit, View, etc.

You want to go to View, Run the cursor over it, click and a menu will appear that says Text...run your cursor over it and it will say Bigger or Smaller. Click on bigger. I don't know how to make it STAY bigger forever, so I do that whenever I need to see things better.

Good luck and have fun!

Macs really are easy. I am soooo techno-challenged, but i've learned to do lots of things on mine and I LOVE it. :

Movie - just pop it in the DVD slot and the DVD player will automatically start up.

To make the text bigger, hold down the Command key (the one with the little apple on it, right beside the space bar) and the + key together. (Then Command- to make it smaller again.)

Oh thank you guys!!!! I was getting a headache from squinting at the small print. much better now!!!

There is about 2 inches on each side of the box where there is just that stars in space thing showing. The window doesnt take up the whole screen like on my old computer. Is this normal? And is there a way to make it take up the whole screen? I just dont get why the 2 inches of nothing on each side. Humm. I hope i didnt order the wrong one or something.

I wish i would have had them send the missing manual express mail. Im feeling kind of lost and apples web site isnt much help. Thank you guys for helping me. i have no idea what im doing.

Have i mentioned how cool you are? Thank you, that is so much better that little screen was driving me nuts.

You guys are going to be so glad when I get my missing manual and stop asking you all kinds of questions.

But until then..... now i have another question. Is there anyway to hide that menu thing at the bottom? And if there is how do i make it come up again?

That is called your dock. Under the blue apple in the top tool bar, click on that & go to dock and you can make it bigger, smaller. Put it on the left or right or bottom. Make it pop or just dissappear.

Dock,I like that. I guess you can tell I'm a mac newbie. I did that and it went away just like you said. it's kind of distracting when you are not using it.
I can see it so much better now. :thank you

i'm crying like a big goofball. I'm so happy today. some of you already know that i'm disabled and mostly homebound. Only leave the house 6 to 12 times a year if that. My computer is my link to the world. And my little sony laptop served me well for 5 years but was getting very tired. I'm just so happy with my new mac. Thank you all for being so nice to me and helping me. You all just made my day. :

So glad you are loving' your mac and that you have this window on the world!

I am somewhat limited in what I can do, and use my computer as a social outlet, too.

Funny about the dock and personal preferences. I have mine at the bottem and it's fairly small...and I just don't notice it...I keep my window about 3/4 of my screen and I like that.

My brother always has several little windows open on his computer and when he comes over and uses mine,he always fussses about my big window!

I think he can see better than I can.

Enjoy your new computer and I'm pretty sure everyone loves helping you! It's fun to be able help someone.

I keep my dock on the left side. I didn't like it on the bottom.
