Velcro problem...

I'm putting velcro on a dipe this evening, and my machine is getting all wonky from it. I bought velcro that is sticky on one side, thinking that it would make it easier to keep in the proper place while I sewed it on. My machine has been working fine (I sew every day), but my bobbin thread started knotting up when I started on the velcro. I noticed that my needle was getting gummy from the sticky side of the velcro, and the top thread was sticking to the needle. I cleaned everything up, sewed on a piece of scrap fabric, everything was fine. Started on the the dipe again and the knotting of the bobbin started up again. I've done this a couple times now, and I'm wondering if I shouldn't be using the sticky velcro. Should I go out and get some plain?

I've always put snaps on my diapers...this is my first time sewing velcro ever, actually. Any advice would be appreciated!

yes the sticky thing is the issue. get non adhesive velcro. i dont hv issues with sewing velcro. also if your bobbin thread is wonky, loosen the tension.

Thanks for the reply!

I'll go out and get some non-stick kind tomorrow. The bobbin tension is usually fine, so hopefully that will fix it.

I agree, NO sticky velcro. I did this without thinking when making covers once, wrecked my needle. Use the plain stuff.
