June 8, 1990.... I was 9 years old and in the 4th grade. My mom wasn't home and when she got home I said to her:
"Mom, I've either hurt myself very badly or I've become a woman."

I'll be 21 next month and I started when I was 9 or 10. I'm very hopeful that my daughter doesn't start too early

I had just turned 10.

Most of my friends started around 12-13; it was 13 for me. And my mother hadn't told me anything about it - I knew about it from health class, but I had no idea where in the house she kept the supplies so I was relegated to toilet paper that first go round because I was too embarrassed to ask!

I was a late starter-15years old.  I always wondered if this meant i would be fertile longer. I had a baby at almost 45, but it did take me over a year to conceive her (in contrast to 2  other children, conceived in my late 30s and early 40s) I dont know why i started late.  My mother also started at 15. It could be genetic, or it could be related to total body fat. I was athletic...

11. I remember because I was born in 1975, and I had my 2nd period at the 1986 World's Fair in Vancouver (my grandma, who brought me, called my mom all excited to tell her while I stood by mortified).

My first period had been the month before -- I was roller skating on the street outside my house and kept just coming inside to change my underwear until my aunt (who was babysitting me) noticed the pile of underwear and clued me in about what was happening. lol.gif I knew all about periods, but for some reason I didn't connect the knowledge with what I was experiencing!

I was 12, almost 13...a few months before the end of grade seven.

I spent a lot of time at Expo that year. Who knows? Maybe we watched fireworks together.   :)

Yes, maybe! It was such a fun trip, just me and my grandma. My favorite thing was tea at the Empress Hotel. What a beautiful city you live in!

Uh, am I the only one that doesn't remember at all? After 8 and before 15...all I remember is which house we lived in.

I voted 15, but I just realized I had to be 14. It was at the end of 8th grade. My mom had already been telling me for a couple of years that I was surely going to start any time now, because I would get sick around the same time every month. I think she was imagining the pattern; I suffered from chronic anxiety and depression and got "sick" as often as I thought I could get away with it.

I got a mini period at 9, and I didn't even know what it was.  I was too embarrassed to say anything so I used wadded up toilet paper.  I thought I had an infection or something.  Then I didn't get it again until 12, and then it was regular and I knew what it was.  So I voted 12.

I was born in 1980 and started my period a few weeks after my 10th birthday.

15 1/2, but I was a serious long distance runner and was on a "diet" by my controlling father who didn't want me to develop because it might slow me down.

My oldest will be 13 in two months, healthy normal kid, and has not started yet. She has entered puberty for sure, though.
