help for a humid house?

we have three aquariums (two large turtles, and one with fish,) and a small house (and i mean SMALL. ) consequently, our house is very wet, and mold is starting to sprout up around windows, on leather shoes, in dark spots, etc. we have had this problem in most of the places we've lived. windows sweating, etc...

we looked into getting a dehumidifier, but they are big bucks! i would like to know if there are any other cheaper, healthy alternatives to spending the $170 CDN. we will if nothing else works, but it would be nice to find something else that would work.

this kind of moisture can't be good for jasmyn (or us, or pets, or house!) any ideas?

This is what I use in my small home in a wet climate:

I had lots of trouble with the link (argh), so you'll have to copy/paste, and then click on "products" to see the packaging.
I honestly do not know much about the chemical mechanisms of the product..... I just put it up high where dd and dogs can not get into it. It is odorless, messless, and REALLY works! You just leave an open container of it (crystals, sort of), and it magically absorbs water from the air. Amazing. And it is cheap, so that is a bonus.
HTH!

You could crack a window or 2... with the cold dry air coming, it'll help quite a bit!

We never seem to have that problem with our old drafty house!
