Would you call your dp home...updates #40, 48, 61

Your dd took off her undies, and she was covered with baby ticks? And then you saw that ds was too? And then you saw that you had a bunch too? They're too tiny for the tick puller, and the microfiber is not removing all of them. AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

This is why we don't do nature walks at our super-close, super-beautiful lake every day.

Probably not. What are you going to go though? I might be on my way to the doctor if that happened.

Yes I'd call Dh.
And I'd also faint.

Depends on what kind of day he is having. If he's super busy - no. If he's not too busy - maybe.

Ugh, though. That does not sound like fun.

I probably would. Just to make sure you got them all off of you. You can take care of the kids but who will help you with your little buggers?

Yeah that. My oldest had a tick one time in his upper ear. I did call dh and he talked me through it. Since he was working and couldn't come to my rescue. That about did me in, I can't imagine that many.

uh.. I think I'd need his help to maintain composure and not scare the children

ayiyiyiyiyi!

Well seeing that my DH once rushed from work to the vet's office when Cornflake was sick, yes, I would call him. I would not ask him to leave, but he probably would. I second going to the Doctor

Oh yeah, I'd call him for something like that - and I'm pretty sure he'd WANT to be called.

Yes, I would call him in a frantic 1950s housewife way in a tizzy not knowing what to do. I'm totally serious. That creeps me out.

Ummmm I can't call DH, he is a firefighter and I would have a hard time convincing his chief to come for that. I would probably dust off the tweezers and start plucking...ewwwww!

That just made me laugh out loud and made Diet Coke come up through my nose...ouch!

I'd call FIL first, or if I were really lucky and BIL/SIL were down here for a bit. He's just down the street and knows these sorts of things. DH wouldn't have a clue. I would call to freak out though. Thank god there's no ticks around here.

Moving to Toronto........

Yes. I hate ticks. I cannot deal with them.

Ticks, leeches, mice, bats.
There's my list of things I'd call Dh home for.

TICK REMOVAL

Please pass this on. Everyone needs this helpful hint.

No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Version.

A School Nurse has written the info below -- good enough to share --
and it really works!!

I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick.
This is great, because it works in those places where it's sometimes difficult to
get to with tweezers : between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.

Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked
cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its
own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has
worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less
traumatic for the patient and easier for me.

Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in
any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had
one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this
method and immediately called me back to say, "It worked!"

In that situation, my kids would be calling 911 because their mother just had some kind of attack and was lying totally unresponsive on the floor twitching and muttering to herself. Presumably the EMTs would then call dh at work.

I don't do bugs.

(Just shared this with dh, and he points out that he wouldn't be able to help since he'd end up curled in a little ball of trauma as soon as he heard what happened. Ticks really freak him out.)

I'd probably call him but I wouldn't ask or expect him to come home. I highly doubt his boss would let him off for that anyway. I'd probably call my mom, though.

EW!!! I'd call for sure, but only to whine. Do you know what kind they are? Do you have scary ones there? We have deer ticks near us, so I'd be worried.

I've heard Vasaline over them in a thick layer will suffocate them so they have to crawl back out for air. Then you can wipe them off.

EW!
