Where do you get your news online?

I've decided to give up the paper, but still want to stay current on things. I will of course be checking my hometown newspaper's website, but I'd also like another source of world news. Any recommendations?

I've given up on the corporate media in the US. I use RSS feeds to gather news headlines from a bunch of sources: Google, NPR, BBC, Al Jazeera, The Nation, Alternet, CommonDreams. Look at google reader, you can add feeds and figure out what news items you want to see.

Our local paper is a Knight-Ridder, so the local news is there, but weak. We have a local monthly rag that has a web site that I check regularly since it has in depth coverage of good local issues.

Google News is my home page.

salon and motherjones

I especially enjoy camille paglia's monthly column in salon

I believe they are both independent so they don't hold the blatant biases that the more mainstream news service have.

Though I wish I knew a good source for world news...

I feel North Americans know embarrassing little about the rest of the world. When I was honeymooning in France I was so impressed by how much Europeans I met knew about us and I little embarrassed by little we knew about them.
